Yesterday this beautiful Mahakaal Bhairava murti was found while excavating a pond in Dakshin Dinajpur, West Bengal. It is either from Pala or Sena era, though I would personally place it as Pala, seeing the exquisite work workmanship. It is rarest of the rare find, as there are no other murtis like this found before; and what makes it even more unique is that it depicts four Bhairavas on four sides, making it a sarvatobhadra murti. I don’t think I have seen anything like this before. Wish this unique Mahakaal Bhairava murti would be placed in a temple and worshipped, instead of being dumped in a museum storehouse.

YOGA NARSIMHA, MELUKOTE, MANDYA DIST. (Kar)🔥 The mandir has the murti of Narasimha in a seated position with the Yogapatta. This is considered as one of the seven holy centres devoted to Narasimha. The mandir is on a hill at a height of 1777 m above sea level. It is said that the murti was installed by Prahlada, son of Hiranyakashapu, himself. Beneath the mandir, there is a small cave where Prahlada is said to have meditated when he brought the murti. Narasimha is in yogic posture wearing Chalakkrama with Sun and Moon at his feet. There are about 300 steps leading to the mandir. The mandir has a huge drum donated by Tipu Sultan and a beautiful bell donated by Mysore Parakalamatha. Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodeyar III donated a gold crown here. Special pujas are held to celebrate Narasimha Jayanti every year.

This video is of my #gramadevata temple in Fatorpa, Goa. Shri Devi Shantadurga Kunkallikarin. The original temple was in my ancestral village of Cuncolim. In 1583, Portuguese missionaries and forces destroyed the temple. The local people fought hard and transported the Devi Murti to its present location in Fatorpa, where the temple exists till today. It is a beautiful temple surrounded by verdant greenery. The annual #jatrotsav is going on now. There is SO much more to Goa than just the beaches! Rohan Khaunte Dr. Pramod Sawant

47 years passed since its first appearance but its impact is still the same as it was in the first place. It was May the 16th, 1978, just before 3 days from the release of Dire Straits' epic single 'Sultans of Swing' which is in their self-titled album. The band took the stage live at The Old Grey Whistle Test and performed that legendary, invaluable, and amazing song, Sultans of Swing. This footage is one of the earliest footage of the band and it is beyond perfection since there was no release back in that time from Dire Straits. The band's sound, playing, and whole live performance is just obviously amazing and it also sounds as great as the album version. What an incredible live performance!

News coming in from South 24 Parganas district of #WestBengal. Yesterday night, in #Baharu, the Police forced to take back Durga Murti immersion procession as it shouldn't go through a Muslim-majority area citing communal harmony. The guy, in the video, said that for more than the last 50 years, the procession went through that area. But, the police this year created division among Hindu and Muslim as both communities live peacefully, side by side.

This is Nb Sub Bhopal Singh Chaudhary of 5th Battalion The Rajputana Rifles. It was my honour and privilege to meet him a few years back. A veteran of three wars, he is paralysed neck downwards. Yet, you can see the fire in his eyes, the Josh in his voice. Later, once the shoot was over, I asked him if he had any regrets. I was expecting a litany of complaints. His answer left me spellbound. “My only regret is that I cannot stand when the national anthem is played”, said the old soldier. This sentiment was echoed by many soldiers who were similarly paralysed. And this, my friends, is the Idea of India. This is the price of our freedom. Jai Hind. #HappyIndependenceDay 🙏

The very first reason is that this is a protected monument under the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India). Under the regulations of the Archaeological Survey of India, there is legally no provision for worship, whether in a mosque, a temple, a Gurudwara, or a church. Now, the question has arisen as to whether this site is a Bhojshala or a mosque. The Archaeological Survey of India had conducted a survey of the site. At that time, when Uma Bharti was the Chief Minister, Sumitra Mahajan's husband served as the Government Pleader. In the report submitted by the Archaeological Survey of India, it was mentioned that they had found no evidence of a temple at the site. It was the government counsel who presented the Archaeological Survey of India's report, and in doing so, he stated that they had found no evidence of a temple there. The second point is this: after the demolition of the Babri Masjid, Narasimha Rao enacted a law stating that, with the sole exception of the Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid dispute, no other temple or mosque in the country could be altered or converted after the date of independence; doing so would constitute a legally punishable offence. The BJP has no other agenda or issue to focus on other than the Hindu-Muslim divide..."
