Nightcrawler (2014) is a chilling psychological thriller that explores ambition without morality. Written and directed by Dan Gilroy, the film follows Lou Bloom, a driven but deeply unsettling man who turns crime-scene footage into a lucrative business, exposing the dark side of modern media.

This betrayal hits harder than any plot twist because it's so coldly calculated. Lou doesn't just abandon Rick — he justifies it with corporate buzzwords while filming him bleed out. Peak Nightcrawler sociopathy. Gyllenhaal was terrifying in this role.

'Peak Nightcrawler sociopathy' is perfect. Man gave a TED talk over a dying coworker. Lou didn't snap - he optimized. Terrifying is right.

That filming part of it really broke me

That’s what makes it so painful. You expect betrayal from one side, but watching the damage spread and consume everyone involved is the real gut punch.

Yes! That's an authentic hit to the guts.

What makes the film so powerful is its critique of sensationalist news culture. Lou doesn't just report tragedy—he profits from it, blurring the line between observer and participant. The movie asks uncomfortable questions about how far people will go for success and how audiences contribute to the demand for shocking content.

One of the greatest smooth flowing storylines ever written

I totally agree with you

This was worse

I agree 💯

He survived, fled to NYC, became rich and got a symbiote

'We Are Nightcrawler ' 😂 He survived the shootout, ditched LA, rebranded as 'independent journalist' in NYC. Symbiote thinks it's controlling him. Lou's already negotiating it's cut.

“Everything is news” Nightcrawler

Yes! I recommend you do 😃

The betrayal came from a close person.

Yes it did. And that was why he felt so much hurt.

Why I feel like openai and the guy found committed suicide

It was really sad

Never you trust anyone man.

It's the sad reality of life 💔. You can only trust yourself.

This is how all the idiots with phones start filming when they could be helping

Why kill him

I mean he should have been insta killed from 5 chest shots

Well yes but that's why it's just a movie 😅

I was shocked at this scene

Me too I couldn't believe My eyes

Some betrayals hits so differently. It can shatter one’s existence. This hits hard

Betrayals are always bitter, heartbreaking and tragic.💔💔

Betrayal is now the most common thing happen now pray not to experience it cause it hurt the most .rate this a 10/10

I can't agree less. Betrayal is now something that can happen to anyone at anytime even from people they trust with their life.

All for his company success that's really bad

It's unfair how some people can do anything just to protect their own interests.

A good crazy ass movie lol

The film Jake should’ve won for

You are absolutely correct 💯

You start hating this character so much after this, yet he keeps rising

Exactly. That's the sick genius of it. You want him to crash, but the world keeps rewarding his worst instincts.

Betrayal hits different when it’s wrapped in LinkedIn buzzwords. Peak Nightcrawler
