This bit is very interesting for me. Talking about body shapes when receiving the ball. Optimal position. Evading the press. Getting ready to spin forward and break lines.

We told this guy, you’re clueless in coaching. Michael fucking Carrick, you know. The way midfielders (top ones) see the game is different man. Not saying every midfielder is able to relay that knowledge forward to players but again, some times, it isn’t about the delivery but about the players’ application.…

Wharton’s ability to dominate central zone’s when in-possession makes him an absolute monster. His technical tools which aid his central-zonal dominance are: - Scan frequency - awareness of press/space - Processing speed - instant decisions - Optimal body position/manipulation receiving - Consistently optimal touch - Compactness - balance, no backlift, core strength - Complete ball-striking range - clean - Elastic, powerful frame - ground-eating biomechanics.

#forearmfriday Last day of employment for a bit and I’m looking forward to the break. I’m going to spend my time traveling and getting stronger.

This is what golf fans mean when we talk about wanting the announcers to just lay out. Fifty seconds of two players getting in the weeds and just talking ball. No commentary needed

The difference between Myles Lewis-Skelly receiving passes in midfield and Martín Zubimendi receiving is staggering. When MLS receives the ball, he does it with the intention of progressing play vertically between the lines. His first instinct is always to look for receivers higher up in pockets. His high technical level also makes him extremely press-resistant, he can beat pressure with just a simple shoulder drop. Zubimendi is the opposite of this.

Conor Laverty was very interesting post match today. This bit on Down’s belief and the screensaver that added a bit of fuel to the fire, all while his wee lads kick the ball off the wall behind

🚨 Can’t wait to see what and how the gospel of Xabi Alonso will transform Caicedo game even better Caicedo has improved a lot on the ball but people are more concerned about his work off the ball. He is one of the best first-touch passers to break lines or evade press

The way Rosenior uses his pivot was interesting. Very close in proximity, lots of bounce passes to draw out the press and open up passing lanes between the lines, and lots of one-touch passes to the 3rd man. Very good on the eye.
