We have officially entered uncharted climate territory:

๐ŸŒ€This was the first time a major Hurricane hit Acapulco. And the first Eastern Pacific hurricane ever recorded to make landfall as a Category 5 in Mexico:

"Acapulco has been destroyed" indeed. What do all the less fancy buildings look like now?

Hurricane Otis, a Catastrophic storm, Wreaks havoc in Mexico. The influence of climate change on individual hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones is challenging to assess due to their localised and short-lived nature. Warmer ocean waters give storms more energy, resulting in higher wind speeds. A warmer atmosphere holds more moisture, leading to more intense rainfall during storms. Rising sea levels exacerbate storm surges, worsening coastal flooding. It is unclear if the number of hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones globally will increase, but they are very likely to have increased rainfall rates and reach greater wind speeds as the world warms. Higher global temperatures will lead to an elevated proportion of hurricanes, typhoons and cyclones reaching the most intense categories (four and five).

What do you think the climate change deniers will say about this?
