The chosen location for the bus stand is poorly planned and has created huge traffic issues. The Outer Ring Road (ORR) ends at the Vandalur signal, forcing vehicles coming from the ORR to descend at the signal, take the service road, and merge into the GST Road exactly at the entrance of the bus terminal. At the same time, vehicles coming from the GST Road exit at the Vandalur flyover and must also enter the bus stand at this same congested point. Additionally, city buses exiting the terminal have to take a U-turn at the Urapakkam signal. This requires the signal to hold GST Road traffic for longer periods to allow the buses to cross safely. The ongoing foot over bridge construction has further reduced available road space, making the situation worse. All these have turned the area into a major choking point at Kilambakkam.

@dstock_insights The bus stand should have come on the originally planned site by DMK Govt behind crescent university on the Vandalur-Kelambakkam Road but for the opposition of Ramadas it was dropped and JJ choose this place

About time govt realises flyovers just shift the choke point from one place to another. Also why are there so many people clogging the entrance 🤔

This choke point adds traffic till Ulunthurpettai.

@TamilNaduInfra Simple solution with $0 cost readily available. They should use "flexible both ways road system". Borrow 2 roads from other side for peak time traffic, using traffic police for next 20 km.This is followed in many USA cities like Seattle.

Road side parking is a pain

@TamilNaduInfra Both bridge and Kilambakkam bus stand began in the same time , a proper government would have thought to built a bridge until oorapakkam to reduce traffic but this bridge became complete mess during peak hours
