USTR Jamieson Greer stood alongside Canada-US Trade Minister Dominic Leblanc and told media in DC that "We feel confident we have reached an agreement ... that will strengthen the North American economy" He added they are looking at documentation so he can brief congress and US stakeholders, adding they have "we have eliminated some of the irritants" and he is "very happy with where we ended up" On supply management, Leblanc said "We needed to ensure that the supply management regime remained entirely intact and I'm confident that that's the case" #cdnpoli

So THIS is why Mark Carney’s trade deal collapsed. After months of “constructive” talks, “progress” and assurances from Ottawa, Carney finally tells Canadians what happened. He says the U.S. demanded: • Medium and heavy-duty trucks excluded from the auto deal. • Restrictions on Canada signing other trade deals. • Restrictions affecting Canadian language, culture and sovereignty. Carney says those last-minute demands killed the deal. Fair enough. But Carney was elected as the “master negotiator.” Canada was told his experience and connections were exactly what we needed to deal with Trump. Now there’s no deal. At some point, Canadians are allowed to judge the negotiator by the negotiation.

Why would this be when Trump boasts all the time about trade deals with other Nations? Unless of course there is no deal that would be good for Canada, being agreed upon? How insane is that?
