Ex-officer here. Where do they find cops like this?? The correct solution is the officer calls for a tow truck and has it taken to the impound yard. It can sit there until detectives decide if they want to look at it. Because I'd bet my paycheck if that bike wasn't stolen, it was at least used in the commission of some other crime. They might not be looking for it now, but it could be important later. Also I'd spend more than 5 seconds looking for a VIN... There's lots of places one could potentially be on that thing!

Public servants have become so dissociative to concerns and requirements of the citizens who pay them.

The police should write up a report and run the VIN or serial number to see if it is stolen or abandoned. That’s what our Sheriffs do in our county. If it is found on public property they would have it towed out of there. If it’s on private property the owner is responsible for the removal. Just my thought.

She just didn’t do her job. A normal cop would have called a tow truck and impounded it for investigation. She wouldn’t have known if this bike was an important piece for the traffic investigators or not.
