Oh Boy: Just weeks before the NFL draft Rams HC Sean McVay revealed that he did not do much "homework" on Ty Simpson. Last night Simpson said he never met McVay in person. Despite all this Rams GM Les Snead drafted Ty with the 13th pick in the NFL draft. We've never seen anything like this 🤦‍♂️

Wow. #Bills owner Terry Pegula says the coaching staff pushed to draft WR Keon Coleman and that was never GM Brandon Beane's top choice in that situation. "That was Brandon being a team player. ... He's taken heat over it. I'm here to tell you the true story." Wowza. I've never seen anything like this before... Coleman is still on the roster BTW.

Nick Caserio on mock drafts & consensus boards for the draft on Pat McAfee: “We try to do our work, identify the players that we like. We do have analysis on mock drafts to see maybe where a player is projected & then after the draft look at who is most right. What you found in this draft, teams took players that they liked, that they wanted, and that’s the beauty of it.”

Sean Marks on whether the Nets are more likely to be aggressive on the trade market after falling to the 6th pick: “Hard to tell. I think it’s all about how these guys develop, right? I don’t think you want to make rash decisions before you’ve seen how they look. I think we all know there’s a group in this draft that could be game-changers, but I said could be because you never know... Every draft there’s a guy who people didn’t quite expect to be [that high] if you do the re-draft. So for us, it’ll still be about having patience. Adam Schefter on De'Zhaun Stribling: “What’s interesting about this selection is there were some people that wondered if it was too early for De'Zhaun Stribling to go and yet there were a couple of teams that I spoke to leading up to the draft that felt like that De'Zhaun Stribling was the best wide receiver in the draft. Another team, supposedly the Los Angeles Rams had eyes on him as well. The 49ers didn’t just come up with this pick out of nowhere, they knew that there were other teams that had a very high grade on Stribling when the 49ers declined to trade out the top draft slot in the second round and take him there.”

I need honest opinions on this, this got tense REAL fast… A woman called the police because her husband’s GPS location didn’t match where he said he was, but it turned out to be a GPS error. Situations like this show how quickly assumptions can escalate, especially when trust and technology collide. Was calling the police justified, or did this go way too far over a simple error? What would you have done in that situation?

Anne Lamott coined “shitty first drafts” in her book, Bird by Bird, where you “let it romp all over the place, knowing that no one is going to see it and that you can shape it later.” So, how do you shape it? You take it through three drafts: 1) The child's draft / shitty first draft: be firm but friendly. "I like this. I like your description, but we're going to maybe use it somewhere else." 2) The adult draft: you take out, you fix, you find the stronger verbs. 3) The dental draft: "You go twos by twos. You wiggle and jiggly floss. Some teeth might need a little attention. Some teeth are fine. You go on to the next one, and that's really what good writing is." Great writing rarely emerges on the first pass. It’s an iterative process where you get it all on the page, remove and strengthen, and then tweak the details to end up with a great piece.
