FLASH: Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu today paid an impromptu visit to the ongoing construction of the mid level Agro food Hub, Abijo, Lekki-Epe Expressway. The Lagos State Fresh Food Hub—Abijo sits on a 23,000 sqm land with adequate parking facilities, cold and dry storage facilities, and expansive trading floors for vendors. This food hub will create a bigger food distribution network across Lagos by the State government. It aims to bring fresh, affordable produce to communities along the Lekki‑Epe corridor, helping to decentralize food access beyond traditional urban centers. The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, and the British High Commission in Nigeria are set to collaborate on the generation of energy from solid waste as well as recycling for an improved economy. Solid waste management is a major issue for the State, as the State generates 13,000 – 15,000 tonnes of waste daily. We have also identified that the PSP waste collection system needs support in finding creative ways to manage dumpsites. It is important to mention that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu -led administration has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on environmental issues with private investors on ways to generate energy from dumpsites. The State is open to investment opportunities and partnerships. It is time for stakeholders to have pure work plans and be very realistic and deliberate about actions to combat the environmental scourge. It was a moment of profound reflection and gratitude to lead the Board of the ncc.gov.ng on a courtesy visit to the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu last Thursday. As I mentioned during our meeting, my "PhD in Public Service" was obtained within the The Lagos State Govt ecosystem. To return now, in this federal capacity, and be received so warmly by a leader who was once my "Dean" in that school of service, is truly humbling. Our discussions reinforced the central role Lagos continues to play as Nigeria’s hub for telecommunications, innovation, and the digital economy, a position built over decades of deliberate governance and reform. This legacy, championed and consolidated under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Bola Ahmed Tinubu continues to shape Lagos as the template for national progress. After speaking to the commissioner of police, lagos state, we had a press conference wherein we addressed several issues as it relates to this protest. In our address, we mentioned that the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Police Command have ordered the immediate release of the protesters who were arrested and detained in Panti, we also spoke about the peaceful protest and the conduct of the enforcement officers. In the press briefing, we assured protesters that our group of lawyers are willing and ready to freely secure the release of whoever is arrested in lagos state. In our address, we mentioned that the Commissioner of Police Lagos State Police Command have ordered the immediate release of the protesters who were arrested and detained in Panti, we also spoke about the peaceful protest and the conduct of the enforcement officers. In the press briefing, we assured protesters that our group of lawyers are willing and ready to freely secure the release of whoever is arrested in lagos state. I'm therefore using this medium to urge everyone protesting to ensure that the protest is done peaceful.
