Why do we call it “emergency response” when the system is too weak to respond unless there are casualties? No towing van, no rapid response, no accountability — that’s a failed system. The only thing FRSC seems efficient at is stopping private cars in the city to check papers, while reckless yellow buses continue causing chaos on the roads unchecked. Meanwhile, when actual accidents happen, they are nowhere to be found. Lagos is supposed to be a forward-looking state. How does something like this happen and nobody in government gets sanctioned or takes responsibility

Emergency response did not ask if the drivers were Yoruba, Hausa or Igbo. They didn’t care to find out who holds an APC, ADC, NDC, PDP, NNPP membership card. None of that nonsense mattered to them when they refused to respond. This is the Nigeria we live in. Remember this!

The funny thing is that the Lagos State emergency services do not even need to own a towing van nearby. They only need to have a database of all service providers and drivers with towing vans around the area and give them your coordinates. They will be with you while u pay bill

When emergency vehicles are moving, citizens must immediately yield. That simple act saves lives. No city can function when people block ambulances, ignore sirens, or behave as if emergencies are someone else’s concern. At the same time, government must provide a fully functional emergency response system trained personnel, working ambulances, clear dispatch coordination, and predictable response times. Lagos is growing fast, and the system must grow with it. The private sector also has a major role to play. In many global cities, private EMS providers, tech-enabled dispatch systems, and public‑private partnerships help close gaps and improve speed. Lagos should not be an exception.

This is commendable, you have just demonstrated that we can constructively demand accountability and responsibility from our government without necessarily riling up anyone. You didn’t just criticise but you also showed empathy and a sense of responsibility. You are a great man!

One of many I will give to the Ambode @AkinwunmiAmbode administration was that he provided Ambulance Service at every strategic location in Lagos with a standby medical team to attend to emergencies within 15-30mins.

I have said it several time civil servant job in naija is a retirement plan and extortion in the hands of the job holder. They are worse than politician.

Nigeria is 'every man for himself'. Apart from collecting money from the citizens, the government has nothing to offer anybody. Any good thing that comes from the authorities is seen as a favor even when it's paid for.

Calling the emergency number is the life line of any city worldwide. That’s the number reason I consider Nigeria unsafe to live in. It’s not as if we don’t have the resources, but they are in the pockets of the ruling class.!

I still maintain that Governor Fashola is the best ever. During his administration, the Rapid Response Unit was stationed at most bus stops in Lagos. Ambode, because of his personal grudge with Fashola, discontinued many of the things he implemented. This is really sad 😔
