I'm joined here by @JanuaryDoNoHarm who shares her story of how the school tried to socially transition her daughter without her knowledge. New name, pronouns, bathrooms, etc. They even drew up a gender transition plan. Social transition is a very harmful psychological intervention that schools have absolutely no business doing. 3/

We talked a little bit more, and while we started off with this young man literally shaking a bit and comparing DeSantis to Hitler, we ended with smiles and agreement. The other student fully supports what we're doing, too. More than 90% of people do. 5/

This is how we restore sanity. Our young people are lied to so much, and some of it sticks, but we can fix things one conversation at a time. This was a typical university campus discussion. The best part is these students talk to other students, and the truth spreads for free. 6/

@FloridaState Whether these books are gay or straight, they aren’t educational. Kids can make up thier own mind about sexuality as they have for 1000’s of years… they should be reading a science or history book

@FloridaState In counseling we refer to this cognitive distortion as catastrophizing. This distortion happens when someone believes they are in a worse position than they really are without sufficient evidence. It’s an exaggeration. It leads to anxiety, depression and many other maladies.

@FloridaState Banning books- "I prevent you from publishing that book." Not banning books- "That book isn't appropriate for our school."

@FloridaState It's a relatively simple question: Is DeSantis banning books? Answer: No! His argument is like saying that the censors who put 18 ratings on films are banning films!
