Am I the only one that feels like BF6 isn't very "next Gen"? I thought by now BF games would have entire buildings collapsing, insane ground deformation, and ever changing maps because of the destruction players can inflict. But it's just... meh.

The crazy part is that if you showed this footage to someone from 10 years earlier in 2006, their head would have exploded. Meanwhile here we are almost 10 years later and graphics have seemingly not progressed much at all and have gotten boringly anodyne.

Maybe because companies keep laying off thousands of veteran developers so they can then hire a couple dozen younger, more inexperienced but cheaper people to work in newer games.

I tried the browser, it's just no one is playing it on PlayStation.

Console has less players than PC from what I see but there's still some servers. If you literally can't find a single active server then your filter settings are just wrong

Around 2018 AAA studios in general started the final push from making games to appeal to an audience to a focus to HR-led politics and activism both in game focus and more importantly how they run their companies internally due to "incentives"

It looks better because it WASN'T made with a cookie cutter game engine. It was made by ARTISIAN developers who were code magicians. Made with Technical artists and TESTING TEAMS the size of a small town. Living for and BREATHING authenticity at the expense of prefab ease. Until we go back to the old ways of HYPER CUSTOM physics engines for UINIQUE titles, we will continue to see cookie cutter reskins of BETTER games that have fewer bells and whistles but MORE microTRANSactions. IMO hyper real raytracing is unnecessary for games to "look good". Most of those true to life details are misunderstood or ignored in the REAL world anyways. As an artist I am fascinated by the realism, but as a player I find it more limiting. IMO

In all fairness Battlefield 1 was way ahead of the time.

BF1 woulda been 10/10 if it wasn’t for their 4 mini campaigns. Shoulda just made a full length Harlem Hellfighter campaign. Ended way too soon. They had to try to check all the boxes tho.
