“Sudden And Unexpected” Special thanks to Israel. Israeli company is ready for 3D printing of “meat” on an industrial scale. The Angus printer, developed by Redefine Meat, can produce different types of meat from plant-based ingredients. It is capable of printing several tons of products per day.

About a robot that became a 3D printer! 🖨️ A team of designers in Shanghai developed a groundbreaking 6-axis robotic 3D printer inspired by spiderwebs during a three-week summer workshop at Tongji University. The project sought to merge design and fabrication processes, drawing from spider threads' biomimetic strength and structure. 🕸️ The printer utilizes a unique spindle-knot extrusion technique, enabling self-supporting structures and greater spatial flexibility than traditional layer-based 3D printing. The device features a robot from KUKA and a robotic end-effector with movable printheads, controlled by an Arduino-based system with precise temperature and extrusion controls. Despite being a work in progress, the project exemplifies the potential of combining robotics and 3D printing for advanced manufacturing applications.

📢Happy to present Convex Splatting, a novel way for 3D reconstruction based on 3D smooth convexes. For the first time, a splatting-based method reaches the quality of NeRF sota methods but with real-time rendering and few primitives!! I expect this to replace Gaussian splatting for 3D in the coming months. CODE RELEASED TODAY! joint work with collaborators from Université de Liège Visual Geometry Group (VGG) , KAUST Computer Vision Lab (IVUL) a thread 🧵 1/n

Su-57's Augmented Reality (AR) is in production; KnAAZ plant developed an AR-system to overlay the a/c's 3D CAD data directly onto real felon during assembly inspection. >this system was tested on the landing-gear bay, which allowed workers to compare the actual installation of assemblies with the digital model >in fact, Holo-Lens+tablet were used for positioning and inspection, with the digital assembly data loaded from the plant's engineering database. >It was developed to make marking, visual inspection and assembly verification faster and reduce human errors. Excited to share our work on Neural Assets: a new method for enabling 3D asset-level control in image diffusion models – scalable & without any 3D inductive biases. Neural Assets goes beyond text or pixel-based control & provides an interface inspired by 3D graphics tools. 🧵

A robot as a 3D printer? 🖨️ Meltio developed a robot that 3D prints in metal. They have unveiled their own line of wire-based 3D printing materials. The new materials range, named Meltio Materials, includes stainless steel, mild steel, titanium, and nickel alloys. 👨🏼‍🏭 What makes this exciting is that Meltio is offering a closed materials platform, providing users with a hassle-free experience by validating the materials and optimizing them for their systems. This move sets Meltio apart from its competitors and paves the way for faster industrial adoption and user-driven innovation. With Meltio Materials, metal 3D printing becomes more accessible, reliable, and efficient for various industries, including aerospace, healthcare, and consumer electronics. 🛩️ Great to see the reliability of proven robots from ABB Robotics. P.S. I could be watching the 3D printing process over and over! ~~ ♻️ Join the weekly robotics newsletter, and never miss any news →

In just 22 days, a research team from China Three Gorges University in Yichang, Hubei Province used 3D printing to build an 8-meter-tall, 100㎡ two-story lab—using only 3 workers on site! This is what happens when your country invests in technologies instead of funding wars!

Human Skin developed for Robots by University of Tokyo. It is also self healing. It is uncanny and well you decide. Let see, a 🧵 — Japanese scientists from the University of Tokyo have developed a groundbreaking method to attach living, lab-grown skin to robotic faces, enabling lifelike smiles and facial expressions. It mimics human tissue structures, using collagen-based gels and perforation-type anchors to securely bind the skin to the robot's surface without tearing or peeling during movement. The artificial skin is soft, self-healing, and capable of stretching, paving the way for more realistic humanoid robots. While still in its early stages, this technology has potential applications in robotics, cosmetics, and medical research. This technology will be deployed before most of the world has a chance to understand the implications…
