Europe has been shy in coming to terms with the legitimate role cooperative space plays in our security and in our geostrategic independence. It is now quite clear, however, that Europe’s space and defence autonomy has become one of our Continent’s foremost priorities. Andrius Kubilius and I have a plan for a coordinated effort to increase European space resilience from space. Our vision is long-term, structured, bold and an important step in permanently integrating security in our collective space efforts. The European Parliament and the European Commission, in collaboration with European Space Agency, organised the ‘General Assembly Defence, Space and Cybersecurity’ to promote dialogue between European and national decision-makers, and industry representatives in the context of the unprecedented geopolitical challenges that the European Union is facing. The Gateway ROSAs will generate an unprecedented 60kW - making these the most powerful ROSAs ever built. Day 145, orbit 2248 — Woohoo! 🎉 So happy I got to carry out the checkout and activation of our brand‑new European exercise equipment: the European Enhanced Exploration Exercise Device, or E4D. I know how much effort – and sweat! – the teams have put into the development and ground-testing of this device, and I’m happy to do my part from orbit now! 😅 I love exercising; it’s always been an extremely important part of my daily routine, and it is exciting to add some variety 🚣 to the on-orbit workouts! The E4D is a technology demonstrator: we’ll evaluate its design, operational aspects, and also effectiveness in counteracting the physical deconditioning experienced by astronauts in space. Once we’ve put it through its paces, future versions could find their way on board spacecrafts where the available space (inside 😉) will be even more limited than on the International Space Station. 👏 Congratulations to all the teams who made this possible! Meet Pakistan’s astronauts that are going to be living in space later this year: Pakistan’s space agency, the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) announces a landmark advancement in Pakistan’s Manned Space Mission Program as two Astronaut Candidates, Khurram Daud and Muhammad Zeeshan Ali are set to depart for the People’s Republic of China to begin advanced astronaut training at the Astronaut Centre of China (ACC). This is a significant step forward in Pakistan’s space exploration journey that positions the country in the community of a select group of nations actively engaged in human spaceflight programs. Under this collaboration, Pakistan is preparing for its first-ever participation in a mission to the China Space Station (CSS). The mission is currently planned for launch in late 2026, where a Pakistani astronaut will serve as a Payload Expert aboard the Shenzhen mission.
