This government shutdown feels different.... feels like an opportunity to terminate wasteful spending on wasteful programs and bring in a new system. As long as congress stays shuttered they can't be lobbied to sway legislation one way or another. I didn't feel that way until it was announced they... show more

Sam Altman admits even he hasn't adopted his own product Codex as much as he should and still uses his computer the old way "The thing that feels most psychologically inconsistent about myself is that I have for 20 years been using computers the same way." "I now have a magic thing called Codex -- so do you, so does everybody. That means I should completely be using my computer in a different way." "I should not be clicking around, pasting from one messaging app to another. I should not be scrolling mindlessly through my emails trying to figure out which one is least painful to open. I should not be keeping a to-do list and doing these rote computer tasks the same way I have for so long." "And yet there's something in my mind that is encoded, that doing this kind of stuff is what it means to work and to be productive." "If you asked me, I would never say I like doing it that way -- in fact I'd say the opposite, and I'd mean it." "But by revealed preference, I have a better way to do it now, and I still do it the old way. It makes no sense, other than I must secretly like it or feel good about it."

As a long time halo fan, it is really sad to see what they have done to the franchise. It really breaks my heart. This guy explains it way better than I ever could.

Clapton on Dylan: "I didn't like any musician who was alive or...other than black. A young white folksinger was not interesting to me. Until I saw the cover of The Times They Are A-Changin', and this guy looked so ravaged and old, it was as good as being black in a way."

You're gonna want to see this quote from Garrett Wilson, #Jets fans: ⬇ "It's not just talking about being competitive, no no no, you've got to train that way. It's got to feel like that at practice, it's got to feel like if you lose at practice, it sucks, it can't just be we'll turn it on when the game comes, & I think that's the main thing that I see that's different, just the way we're practicing, the intensity. The stakes. It feels like there's stakes. Depending on which period it is, the stakes feel higher. It feels like you won the drill when you won the drill, & it feels like you lost when you lost, & to me, that's how I like it. It's an opportunity to practice winning & get that feeling & what it takes to just do it on a consistent basis, & I think it starts out here on the practice field." 🎥 New York Jets

I just made it to work. Its already looking like "weekend traffic" out there. Granted, I didn't see anyone flying through the air like this first clip, but they were flying in a different way. 🏎🗯

ollie was asked who of the veterans on the grid would be a good mentor to rookies and the host suggested carlos ollie: “i rate him very, very highly. i mean, when i was a reserve driver with ferrari and i was listening in on all the debriefs and the detail and the way he's able to describe what he feels in the car is incredible. because it's one thing feeling it and often i was finding, okay, i'm feeling the same thing as this guy or esteban, for example, but carlos was able to describe it to the engineers in a way that they could improve the car. i think that's such an important quality to have.”

“I feel very fortunate...I just feel like I’m a small piece in that. There were some pioneers who were before me, who I got the chance to know and they passed me the baton and I had the responsibility to push through some tough ground that wasn’t formed yet, but not as tough as what they had, and pass it along to the next generation.” Jenny Boucek talks about her path to becoming an assistant coach in the NBA, paving the way for the next generation and more 🙌

If I were trying to be as petty as the UFC in the moment they announced the Conor fight, I would’ve said, ‘We’re making a big announcement — tune in to Paramount+. We have an exclusive interview with the biggest star in the sport.’ You wanted people to stop watching the Netflix show, but you did it on IG Live in the most underwhelming way possible? It just felt like they didn’t execute it as well as they could have.

Shuler: Workers are fed up with an entire political system that they feel is getting in the way. So what we can do here as elected officials—what you all can do—is invest in good union jobs. When people see you investing in good union jobs, they feel hopeful. They feel hopeful for the future, and they can say firsthand, “I’m seeing the change. I feel the change for myself and my family.” Therefore, they become invested. As a woman who came up through the IBEW, I know this is an opportunity for women and people of color to engage in a pathway to the middle class in a way that we haven’t seen before through these good union jobs. This is an opportunity to bring people back into good jobs and back into our democracy if we do it right.

DOOCY TIME: “So you guys talk a lot, including today, about how the border wouldn’t to be such a big deal if Congress would have just passed the immigration bill on day one. Who was in charge of Congress on day one?” KJP: “So, it’s been three years. It’s been three — three whole years. More than three years, more than 1000 days and, look, this is a difficult issue, obviously,. This is a difficult issue and what we have said, is that Congress has to act, right? Congress — Democrats, Republicans — have to act. But, in those three years, it is true that Republicans have gotten in the way. They just have, Peter. They have constitulessly [sp] [sic] used immigration, the immigration system, the broken system as a political stunt. That’s what they’ve done. They’ve gotten in the way in trying to get more Border Patrol agents. They’ve gotten in the way and actually trying to fix what’s happening, the challenges at the border. They did.”

Carlos Alcaraz was asked if he feels a responsibility as the world #1 to be an ambassador for the good of tennis the way Federer, Nadal, & Djokovic did before him “As the world #1 and one of the biggest names in tennis, do you feel a responsibility to be an ambassador for the sport? To grow it in the way Federer, Nadal, & Djokovic did before you…” Carlos: “Not really. I don’t think about it, being a good ambassador for tennis. But obviously at the same time the way I play, I just try to entertain the people, trying to engage people to watch more tennis. A part of that is.. I’m not thinking that I have to be the best ambassador possible to tennis. It’s just stepping on the court, I’m doing what I love to do. Just playing tennis. That is the best way I can be a good ambassador. It’s about loving what you’re doing and enjoy every single second you step on the court. I think that’s it. That’s all that’s in my mind.” (via Australian Open Press)

The question Sam Altman has been waiting for: “The thing to me that feels most psychologically inconsistent about myself is that I have for 20 years been using computers the same way. I now have a magic thing called Codex. So do you, so does everybody. That means I should be using my computer in a completely different way. I should not be clicking around pasting from one messaging app to another. I should not be scrolling mindlessly through my emails and trying to figure out which one is least painful for me to open and respond when I don't want to be dealing with it. I should not be keeping a to-do list and doing sort of these rote computer tasks in the same way that I have for so long. And yet there's something in my mind that is encoded that doing this kind of stuff is what it means to work and what it means to be productive. And if you asked me I would never say I like doing it that way. In fact I would say the opposite and I think I would mean it. I have a better way to do it now. I can do it faster. I can be using Codex for more of just my day-to-day to get through this stack of emails, to do this stuff on my to-do list, to deal with all these things. And I still do it that way. And it makes no sense other than I must secretly like it or feel good about it.”

I probably talked about this before but the way Oda is going about black blades I think is much better and makes much sense than just handing them out to top tiers. The thing is, there is already a metric in place to make the connection. To give Mihawk a seat at that table. The fact that Yoru is a supreme grade weapon like Ace and Murakumogiri. Supreme grades are already more rare than conqueror's haki as it stands. Now if Xebec and Roger had black blades as well then there's no real way to make that distinction for Oda or to be able to make the argument that Mihawk has gone beyond what they were capable of. We would see these guys continue to get the benefit of the doubt, because even though they would be black blade users alongside Mihawk, they would still be seen as his superiors because of the era they lived in and who they shared the seas with. But the black blade the way Oda wrote it, lets us have a different conversation because it transcends eras.

I was in France, on my way to meet with politicians - and I walked in not fully understanding their political system, but I understood language, and that's mostly what they wanted. How did Robert Kennedy Jr. get as far as he did? How do you make this an issue that helps a political career instead of hurting it? I'd spent a long time as his Director of Communications working through exactly those questions, so we'll see how much of it translated. What I'd taken away from the screening the night before was still with me. France's vaccine uptake was around 85%. Poland's was 50%. The people in that room said there was no way out of the program for their kids - every child already vaccinated, and they were trying to figure out how to fight from that position. It's a different fight than what Americans have been having. We've been resisting something being forced on us. They've been living under it for years already. I kept asking myself whether that wears a movement down or makes it harder. I'm still not sure.

This is hilarious and something we need to be reminded of from time to time. Watch as a Democrat voter can’t express what policies they like about Mamdani WHILE on the way to the voting polls to vote. This is the Democrat Party Voter in a nutshell.
