This family went out of town for vacation. When they got back they noticed the neighbor had cut down some branches from their tree that were hanging over to their side. No discussion, no contact, they felt like they waited until they were gone to trim the tree. Many people said that if it is on their side hanging over they have every right to cut those branches. A lot of people brought up “Tree Law” and suggested she had a case. 🤔 Looks like there are more branches that hang over as well. We have many trees in my neighborhood and many of us share trees that give us shade and hang over each other’s property. Apparently there is a whole section dedicated to laws that govern trees between neighbors. 🤯 Have you ever heard of “Tree Law”? What would you do if you were the neighbor? If you were the owner and had come back and noticed your tree limbs cut?

This 91 year old woman who owns this property wanted her tree trimmed, especially the low hanging branches and the ones over the sidewalk. She was quoted $2,600 by a professional tree trimming company. This man was referred by a friend and he knew it was a lot of money so he told her he would do it for $650. He made two trips to the dump and used a pole saw. Some are saying $650 was too much for the too little he did. Do you think $650 was a fair price in helping out that woman? For trimming what he did, two trips to the dump and 6 hours worth of work?

This family was sitting by their fire pit when the dad heard some crackling noises. He told his family they should move because of the noise and he was worried. Sure enough as they got far away from it, a gigantic tree came crumbling down right where they would have been sitting. I would be worried about the tree catching on fire since they left the fire burning in the fire pit. I’m glad the father had the wherewithal to move everyone. By the way, did you know the dad told them so? 😂 Have you ever had a huge tree fall on or near your house or other structures or maybe had a close call?

Yesterday, after failing to find the man who had built a structure on top of a tree along Jogoo Road, I went back today and was glad to find him. I engaged with him and he shared with me his story, explaining why he had chosen the tree as his home. He shared his desire: if only he could get a mkokoteni, he would use it to transport goods for pay and earn a decent living enough to rent a house rather than continue staying on the tree. With the little I had, I purchased a mkokoteni for him. In addition, I will ensure he secures a rental house with four months’ rent fully paid, giving him a fresh start and a safe place to call home. I was deeply moved to see him smile, and it reminded me how powerful even a small act of kindness can be. If you are out there and have the ability to help someone in need, please do it could change a life.

Friends! I had to help Mum quite a lot when she took the Christmas Tree down. Baby Dog was fairly well behaved but the Kittens were not! Ron staged a PROTEST in the Tree and had to be removed. Then Mum had to call me in to keep the box free because she couldn’t put the Tree in it. I gently but firmly told the Kittens it wasn’t a box to play in. The whole process took us twice as long as it usually does!

Looks like it worked like a champ! 💯 Did anyone see the squirrel run up the tree? 🥹 Many said be careful and warned of root fires, which are sneaky. They burn underground without flames. Root fires consume little oxygen and produce very little smoke, allowing them to go completely undetected. They burn at high temperatures and can sustain themselves underground even under snow cover, waiting to resurface when conditions are right. 🤯 I’ve never heard of root fires. Have you ever heard of root fires? If you had the space, would you ever try this on your property to save yourself thousands of dollars?

Did you know in some states when a neighbor cuts down a tree, if it falls into your yard and damages your property, it’s deemed an “act of god” and you are responsible for the damages to your property. For me this could be a huge headache for many people, it shows no accountability. If the neighbor’s tree damages someone else property, you would think that it’s their responsibility since it’s their tree and it’s their actions that caused the damage. Why on earth would any state have this law is beyond me, I wouldn’t want to live in an area like that, where one day you are on top and the next day you could be thousands in debt. What would you do if this was the case for you?

This guy showing off his tree service skills. Impressive. I’d be nervous I’d cut the wrong branch with my strap on it and plummet to the ground. 😬 Someone asked “how does he get down?” I guess he puts the straps around the branch stubs that he left on the way down? 😳 I don’t think I could ever do or have done that job. The Almighty created me with a fear of heights and I’m alright with that. 😂 Doesn’t this just give you anxiety watching it? Could you ever do or have done a job like this? Know anyone that has nerves of still who does or could?

This man who is a landscaper said you should never build a tree coffin around a tree. He said it ends up making the tree die by restricting the roots and having too much mulch. I never knew they were called "tree coffins". I looked it up and it does say they can be very detrimental to your tree if not done correctly. The pavers can restrict root growth and the mulch shouldn't be too thick or torching the base of the tree. I have seen some pretty nice "tree coffins". I never knew they were bad for your trees. Do you have these around your trees? Did you build one a certain way that allows your tree to flourish? What about the people who cemented their pavers together and in the ground?

I planted this tree for my friend 20 years ago….Look at it NOW. My friend in Pokhara saved up enough money to buy some land 22 years ago. I helped him design the place, and when it was finished ….I planted a tree as a blessing. (which I do a lot, my whole life). Now…..that tree is big. That’s how it’s done, simple action. “A small deed is better than a great thought.”

Most people referred to it as the Robin Hood tree as it was in the movie that Kevin Costner was in. The tree was also in Bryan Adams music video "Everything I do, I do it for you," and a few other shows. It was one of the country's most photographed trees and an emblem for the North East of England. The two men, Daniel Graham and Adam Carrutherswere sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in July 2025. Luckily the stump has thrown up basal shoots and cuttings have been gathered from the tree but it's estimated it will be 150 years from now before it becomes what it once was.
