KGF fame Yash had illegally cut down the trees in a forest in Bengaluru for #Toxic 🙏 You can plant a new sapling in 5 minutes, it takes 30 to 50 years for that tree to provide the same level of oxygen, shade, and carbon storage as the mature tree that was cut down 😑

NEW: Robbery in Oakland, CA is getting so bad that criminals are now stealing *bonsai trees.* Oakland is basically a 3rd world country at this point Thieves broke into a bonsai garden in Lake Merritt & stole 8 bonsai trees. One tree was a 100 year old Hinoki cypress. In total, experts believe the stolen trees were worth about $20,000. "While you can put a dollar amount on these trees, they are technically priceless because you'll never find another tree like them," said Suzanne Muller who is the assistant director at the garden. The garden was protected with metal fences and wooden walls however the thugs still made it through.

He wants to cut down an old tree on his property that is causing damage to his sidewalk from the roots. It is a nuisance and a danger. The village now calls old trees “heritage trees” not in an effort to preserved trees but to charge new permit fees. The permit fee use to be $75 and quite often people don’t get permits. Most people only remove trees that are a hazard or might be in the way of a new construction of home addition. This resident was charge a $5000 permit tree to cut down a dying tree that was a nuisance and potential danger. The village has taken this as a CASH GRAB opportunity with mention of the direction of the new revenue source to section 8 & subsidized housing for connected developers. The village is also considering increasing demolition fees from $4500 to $20,000. I’m not sure but maybe there should be NO fees to improve your property. This resident who complained about the tree permit fees might had been a senior. So now the village trustees are talking about “affordable housing” for seniors yet they are increasing permit fees not to mention property tax increases for seniors, THIS IS NOT AFFORDABLE HOUSING. You can’t make this stuff up.

The Sycamore Gap Tree in the Uk was illegally cut down in 2023 by two men in an act of vandalism. The tree was estimated to be 120-150 years old and had become an iconic spot to visit. Most people referred to it as the Robin Hood tree as it was in the movie that Kevin Costner was in. The tree was also in Bryan Adams music video "Everything I do, I do it for you," and a few other shows. It was one of the country's most photographed trees and an emblem for the North East of England. The two men, Daniel Graham and Adam Carrutherswere sentenced to 4 years and 3 months in July 2025. Luckily the stump has thrown up basal shoots and cuttings have been gathered from the tree but it's estimated it will be 150 years from now before it becomes what it once was.

No one is allowed to cut down trees without authorization from the relevant government authorities. Today, I took action against a developer in Parklands who was cutting down trees without following the proper procedure or obtaining the required permission. Any developer intending to cut down trees in our city must follow the established procedure and is required to replace every tree that is removed. We will not allow our city to be turned into a desert.

This woman lives in an HOA. The back of her yard backs up into an easement that is owned by the HOA. The trees back there are on the easement. She points out that there are fallen branches all over her neighbors yard because of the trees and there were many in her yard as well. So she and her children went and picked up all the branches and sticks in her yard and then she piled them up under the tree. She said since the tree is on the HOA easement, it’s their problem. She wants to know if she is the bad guy in all this. If it were me, I’d maintain my yard and put the branches and sticks out for the trash pickup. Do you think she is in the right and it’s the HOA’s problem? Or do you think she is wrong and is making a mountain out of a molehill and there are better hills to plant your flag on?

This man who is a landscaper said you should never build a tree coffin around a tree. He said it ends up making the tree die by restricting the roots and having too much mulch. I never knew they were called "tree coffins". I looked it up and it does say they can be very detrimental to your tree if not done correctly. The pavers can restrict root growth and the mulch shouldn't be too thick or torching the base of the tree. I have seen some pretty nice "tree coffins". I never knew they were bad for your trees. Do you have these around your trees? Did you build one a certain way that allows your tree to flourish? What about the people who cemented their pavers together and in the ground?
