This guy was two weeks from getting evicted from his apartment in 2013. Last year he made $65 million. His name is Dhar Mann. He makes short morality play videos on youtube. Started with a few hundred dollars in the bank and one iPhone, filming out of his studio... apartment. By year 3 he'd grown from a team of one to 25 employees. Dhar Mann's real trick is the library. A video he shot in 2019 still pays him today, and he'll never touch it again. The actors in it got paid once. Getting paid 1,000 times for work you did once is the whole $65M.

Top DTC brands do the opposite of chasing viral creators. The leading paid accounts in our library run boring UGC formats on repeat, not $65M morality plays. Dhar Mann is a creator business. Paid social is a different game.

every creator should watch this. the behind-the-scenes process is more valuable than the results.

The iPhone was not the advantage. Learning how to hold attention was. Distribution keeps making ordinary equipment more valuable than expensive infrastructure.
