This has been a hugely difficult vote. There are compelling arguments on both sides and I realise my decision will be supported by some and opposed by others. But looking at the detail, I could not support the Bill tonight with the risks of coercion and lack of safeguards.

I oppose decriminilisation of full term abortion. I have added my name to the amendment to remove Clause 191 from the Crime and Policing Bill which we will be considering next week. I have been contacted by thousands of people opposed to this move. There is no public support.

If passed, Bill C-260 would create safeguards to prevent the coercion of individuals who are not seeking Medical Assistance in Dying. This bill stands with people with disabilities, veterans, seniors, and all those who have faced, or are at risk of facing, pressure toward medically facilitated death. Visit to learn more.

I am so upset I can barely think to come up with the words to spread this information. 27 DEMOCRATS VOTE AGAINST MAKING INDECENT EXPOSURE TO MINORS A CLASS 6 FELONY! How can you not stand up for the only human beings on the planet who are literally defenseless??? OUR CHILDREN, these are little kids. The bill - sponsored by three Democrats and one Republican - received bipartisan support, but was only opposed by Democrats. In the House, 27 Democrats voted against the bill and only 18 voted in favor of Read the bill:

During the debate on the Northern Ireland Troubles Bill, I emphasised that, as ever with Northern Ireland, the devil lies in the detail. Until the full Bill comes before us, it’s difficult to judge whether it will ultimately prove to be good, bad, or indifferent. I raised two key concerns: first, the somewhat ambiguous nature of Ireland’s role, given its historic reluctance to extradite individuals responsible for appalling attacks on civilians and soldiers. While Ireland states it is committed to this process, I believe that commitment requires closer scrutiny. Secondly, I highlighted the issue of vexatious prosecutions. The phrase “unless there are compelling reasons to do so” risks creating loopholes that undermine the protections intended by the legislation. I have therefore urged the Secretary of State to define “compelling” clearly and ensure that this safeguard cannot be diluted through future interpretation.

Unfortunately I have covid and I can't get "paired" for the Assisted Dying vote this Friday 😪 this is because it isn't a Government bill and therefore there are no pairings. I'm really glad that I've been so outspoken on this up to now and that you know how I would have voted. Yet again, other political parties are attempting to fabricate stories about my not being in Westminster this week, but I believe in transparency. My sort of Christianity doesn't lie and it doesn't mislead. Tell the truth and shame the devil, isn't that what they say? 🙏🙏 By the way, to those saying travel with covid? Jeepers- have a bit of humanity and respect for others. I'll be fine, but others wouldn't be if they got it. Such a selfish perspective.
