However, when loss of possession occurs as the ball contacts the ground, the ground is essentially aiding the receiver in the process of the catch. In #ALAvsUGA, I believe that the receiver did not maintain possession of the ball as it contacted the ground and would’ve liked to see this play reviewed.

Here is both the sideline and end zone view of the big miss from Hurts to AJ in the loss to the Broncos My thoughts on the play: ** AJ definitely slows up. If he doesn’t I’m not sure it is completed but it has a much better chance to be a TD. But no question him slowing up was a big reason why it wasn’t completed. ** Hurts holds onto the ball a tick longer than he should have, a theme in the game. I don’t think that is why it is incomplete but it didn’t help. ** I think AJ slowed up because he felt the ball wasn’t coming since he was already so far down the field and it hadn’t been thrown yet. To me that is probably the result of frustration from that happening a lot this season as opposed to solely on this play. ** Bottom line is this has to be a TD. This isn’t a backup QB to a No. 3 WR. This is Hurts to AJ. They needed the play and it didn’t get it done. ** Most concerning part of the play to me isn’t that it was incomplete. That is bad but it will happen.
