Perfectly legal. Det. Bradley Youngblood, Lt. Joseph Leo, and Sgt. Christopher Curtis surrounded him.... A whole group huddled up, trying to invent a legal reason to force his ID and maybe arrest him for taking pictures from a sidewalk. Youngblood — the senior guy — threatened to and did seize Daniel’s camera and phone and later forensically dumped everything on them. No warrant for the seizure. No crime. Just “you won’t explain yourself.” Eventually they released him. He sued. Eighth Circuit said the officers violated his rights. City paid him $125,000.
