Stainless steel, glass, and ceramic are all fine. If your pet is having kidney problems, its far more likely to be coming from their diet, the tap water or soaps used to clean their bowls. Also if your pet is healthy, they should be able to handle biofilm.. which isnt even an issue if you're changing their water daily.
