Decades later, 14-year-old Cyrus Carmack Belton is killed and the man who shot him walks too. The law has shown us, over and over, that when the victim is a Black child, accountability becomes optional. We are not simply mourning; we are indicting a system that protects those who kill our children while criminalizing our communities for far less. It has ceased to function. There are consequences to this. We are now facing a time of serious economic crisis, and in such times, you need these systems to function. The government should understand that. They should listen to what the people of India are saying. It is a warning from the students of India and a warning from the Opposition that you cannot continue to run India the way you have been running it. This country does not belong to you.
