This is fake news. The Japanese consume around 3,000 micrograms of iodine per day and have some of the lowest rates of thyroid disease in the world. The RDA was only ever set to prevent goiter, not to support optimal health. You’d do well to read Dr. Brownstein’s book, “Iodine: Why You Need It, Why You Can’t Live Without It.”

I did a beer bong through one of those while salmon fishing in Alaska a few years ago. No regerts!

They don’t make kelp pickles, they pickle the kelp and add it to salsas and sauces. I live in same town as these folks, good people.

Yeah but anyone worth their salt knows that the RDA guidelines are worthless garbage, generally designed to make and keep us sick Don’t be dumb Paul

Wait all the studies in the work confirm that we are very deficient in iodine by a lot.

You urinate out excess iodine. I take 25 mg/day. MILLIGRAMS

Everyone could use more iodine.

more like i'm-a-die amirite?

Stop eating so many plants! For optimal nutrition eat lots of animals.

You're wrong about iodine. Time to stop listening to US RDA'S

RDA for Vitamin D is 600 IU...

You need more research on the iodine front! You seemed out of touch on it...

50-100mg (not mcg) is common for iodine loading protocols. I never use those amounts with patients but the RDA is laughable.

Kelp in general or just kelp pickles?

Interesting

what about wakame?

Wow! Scary 😱 How is this not disclosed or even allowed to be sold??

But their hot sauces are soooo good.

@grok is this true
