New model: your robot can now pack your suitcase ๐Ÿงณ Xiaomi has released a new robot foundation model. Called Xiaomi-Robotics-1, it is designed to have a robot pick things up and move them around. But first, DEFINITIONS: - Mixture-of-Transformers (MoT): An architecture where separate transformer "experts" (e.g., one for vision-language, one for actions) share a single attention stream, so each modality gets specialized parameters without losing joint reasoning. - Vision-language model (VLM): A model that jointly understands images and text. - Diffusion transformer: A transformer trained to turn noise into structured outputs by iterative denoising, here generating robot actions rather than images. - Action chunks: Short sequences of future actions (e.g., the next ~50 motor commands) predicted in one shot instead of one step at a time. - Flow matching: A faster version of diffusion. What the full corpus does to that curve is never shown -> and this where things would become interesting! Xiaomi's own conclusion is that model size has stopped mattering and data is the binding constraint. The performance gap among different model sizes are less pronounced than those observed across different data scales. This result suggests that model capacity at the billions-parameter scale may already be sufficient to capture the current dataset's distribution. Which further asks the same question: why not use the 100k video hours? The idea that every few months we get an AI model that is better than the AI model we got before. And we get that by investing more compute in AI models, more data, more new types of training models. Initially, this was done by what's called pre-training, which is when you just feed a bunch of data from the internet into the model. Now we have a second stage that's reinforcement learning or test time compute or reasoning or whatever you want to call it. I think of it as a second stage that involves reinforcement learning. Now both of those things are scaling up together, as we've seen with our models and as we've seen with models from other companies. I don't see anything blocking the further scaling of that. There's some stuff about how do we broaden the tasks on the RL side of it. We've seen more progress on, say, math and code, where the models are getting pretty close to a high professional level, and less on more subjective tasks, but I think that is very much a temporary obstacle. If you look at the capabilities of the model, they're starting to saturate all the benchmarks. If you look at revenue, and you know, Anthropic's revenue every year has grown 10x. Every year weโ€™re kind of conservative and we say, it canโ€™t grow 10x this time. I never assume anything and actually always am very conservative in saying I think it's going to slow down on the business side. But we went from zero to $100 million in 2023, we went from $100 million to $1 billion in 2024, and this year, in the first half of the year, we've gone from $1 billion to, I think as of speaking today, it's well above $4 billion, it might be $4.5 billion. And so if you think about it, suppose that exponential continued for 2 years. I'm not saying it will, but suppose it continued for 2 years. You're well into the $100 billions. I'm not saying that'll happen. I'm saying the situation is that when you're on an exponential, you can really get fooled by it. 2 years away from when the exponential goes totally crazy, it looks like it's just starting to be a thing. Hate, Harassment, and Doxxing from @.luckyzeall and @.Raider_DatWay Over the past week and a half I have experienced extreme harassment on both tiktok and twitch from a creator named LuckyZeal. He has gone on an aggressive smear campaign to distract from his disgusting wrongdoings and to fuel the drama that his content relies on. He posted a tiktok that now has over 100k views where he intentionally lies about the actions of @.Maseeh__ and lies about my involvement in their beef to pull me into drama. As you can see in the video attached, Lucky called upon his community to dox and harass Maseeh, even putting up a $1000 bribe. He would make up lies about Maseeh in an attempt to justify his disgusting actions. I will quickly cover them here. -Lucky called Maseeh a racist and a homophobe. This is blatantly untrue, Maseeh is a gay person of color. Lucky intentionally left out this fact in his tiktok. Maseeh has no platform to defend himself on tiktok and Lucky has been actively deleting comments that defend Maseeh or myself. -Lucky claimed Maseeh used the R-word. This is also untrue.
