Carmine, often used in red lipsticks is a pigment derived from the crushed female cochineal insect (Dactylopius coccus). It takes approximately 70,000 to 100,000 insects to produce just one pound of the colorant

That bright red color in candy, yogurt, and drinks? Sometimes it comes from crushed parasitic insects called cochineal. Yep—bugs. Turned into a dye known as carmine. So when people say “they’ll make us eat bugs,” surprise… we’ve been snacking on them for years. 😅 Is it being removed? Not really. Some brands have switched to plant-based dyes, but carmine is still legal and widely used. The main change is labeling—it now has to say “carmine” or “cochineal extract” on the ingredients. Moral of the story: always read the label… especially if your candy is very red. 🍬🐜

American tuna has a bright red color. It looks fresh, but it’s fake. Grey tuna is placed into this machine that soaks the tuna in a red dye and injects it with chemicals.

Sophy Ridge to someone from Trussell: "Can I just ask, demand for food banks is going up and this is often seen as a negative thing basically, that it shows that more people are in need turning to food banks. Could you flip that and say its a good thing..." er, no.

Testing reveals aviary contraceptive in Chick-fil-A chicken “We found an aviary contraceptive in Chick-fil-A sandwiches. This is because it is also an anti-parasitic and it kills a very common parasite called coccidiosis, but they can't give it to egg-laying birds because it will prevent them from laying eggs. So there's an aviary contraceptive in Chick-fil-A sandwiches, and probably, to be fair, in all the chicken sandwiches in other fast food places too. It's very likely present in almost any chicken that you eat out at restaurants” The aviary contraceptive is called Nicarbazin It is used in basically all broiler chickens so essentially every fast food place uses them McDonald’s, KFC, Burger King, Wendy’s, Popeyes, Subway, Arby’s and more It’s also found in school lunches. The FDA says it’s safe when approved for use in chickens as long as it’s not used within a certain point before harvesting the chickens

No longer a ‘conspiracy theory’ A bill to expand cannibalism law is being introduced This isn’t because people are eating each other, this is because human remains composting in very popular and it’s making its way into our food “This is going to be normalized” This law will be to protect Americans from “unknowingly eating” human remains in our food

A German app developer has created an app called the 'Insect Food Scanner', "for anyone who wants to ensure that their food is free from insects". "With the help of the scanner, you can quickly and easily check whether a food item may contain insects without having to open it or conduct extensive research." This shouldn't even need to be a thing, but this is the world we find ourselves in now.

It’s 2026, and an Indian immigrant in Kentville, Nova Scotia is playing the race card after harassing a local woman. Criticism of bad behaviour is not racism, no matter how often that label is used.
