This is a major milestone for Figure and humanoids in general – doing useful work at a real production line for extended periods. Figure recently completed a 20-hour run of back-to-back shifts on the BMW X3 line! They've been running 10-hour shifts for several weeks now.

Until I can see a 1x speed video of the whole movement including pick up, I'm not impressed. The last Figure vid of this showed the bots picking up an item from a single holder rack. That isn't real world, and that isn't saving any labor.

So hard to impress you :) Sorting and picking parts from a bin seems like the next logical step. I wonder if the sheet metal parts are snugly stacked rather than randomly scattered in a bin, that could be a real challenge for hand dexterity.

A robot just worked an 8-hour shift in China. Then it handled an error no human flagged, adapting to a conveyor that shifted under it and correcting the position deviation on its own before carrying on. This is AgiBot's G2 at Longcheer in Nanchang, where the fleet has now run 10 hours straight and sorted more than 3,000 units at a 100% success rate, talking to the factory's own software in real time and flagging defective parts by itself. We built every factory on earth around human limits: the eight-hour shift, the breaks, the way attention slips after hour six. AgiBot is making those limits optional, and the setting is the whole point. This is a live production line shipping real product next to human workers, not a staged demo. Figure ran a similar stream in California last month, so the milestone itself isn't unique. What's different here is that nothing is for the camera. A functioning factory, live, no cuts. I got back from China this month, and the pace of this one ecosystem is the thing the US is underrating most. The Terminator version of this was loud and apocalyptic. The real one just shows up to work, and gets a little better every shift.

$X Square just beat Figure’s package-sorting pace by ~45%—without a humanoid. In a 1-hour autonomous livestream, two WALL-B-powered 6-axis arms handled 1,816 mixed parcels at 98%+ accuracy. Figure’s 200-hour humanoid run averaged 1,248/hour. That’s 1.98 seconds per parcel vs. 2.88 seconds for Figure. Nearly a full second faster on every package. China processed nearly 199B express parcels in 2025. At that scale, every fraction of a second adds up. Figure is betting on the general-purpose humanoid: one body, eventually many jobs. X Square builds humanoids too, but went pragmatic here—pairing WALL-B with purpose-built arms and grippers for a faster, simpler, more economical logistics system. RobotEra made a similar choice. Its M7 at China Post skips the legs too, using an upper-body humanoid at the sorting line. This is one big difference I keep seeing between U.S. and Chinese robotics: U.S. teams like Figure are making a massive bet on the universal humanoid. Chinese teams are often more willing to change the body if it makes the economics work today. Back in June, I called logistics sorting the right first job for humanoids. X Square is making me rethink the “humanoid” part. If the job doesn’t need legs—or five fingers—why pay for them?$
