This is exactly the problem. Why is threatening to expel LSU a “step the SEC had to take”? LSU used the legal process to challenge the conference. A court granted relief. Lane Kiffin made a hypothetical comment, and the players weren’t even on the field. The bigger issue is the precedent this creates for every SEC school the next time it challenges conference authority. I wrote the full argument here: Today it’s LSU.
