John MacArthur brilliantly explaining why we don't need to agonize over trying to understand how God's sovereignty and human responsibility work together: "People say, 'Oh, I can't understand election and I can't understand how it fits with choice.' Look, I can't understand a lot of things, and you know what it proves to me? No man wrote this Bible, because man would never have written a book with so many absolutely inexplicable mysteries. And the fact that we have those apparent paradoxes which we can't resolve is one of the greatest proofs that God wrote the Bible, because whoever wrote this has a mind beyond my mind. I'm so glad I can't understand everything in the Bible. If I could understand everything in the Bible, it would be written by someone like me, and we'd be in a lot of trouble. Only Bible ✝️ I wrote this song after church a couple months back. My pastor finished his sermon by saying, some people may never step foot in a church, open a Bible, or hear Gods word. He said “you might be the only bible someone reads in this life time” And it struck me at how I carry myself day in and day out. I’m not perfect by no means and I’ve slipped more times than a few but that perspective has been incredibly impactful to how I’ve been living so I did what I knew to do and wrote about it.

It would be pointless to try and introduce Gene Simmons in a comprehensive way. He’s done too much, lived too long, and reinvented himself too many times to be summed up in a line or two. And so, because my plane is boarding and I’m out of time, I’ll simply tell you that my conversation with this legendary rock star led me to conclude that he is, among a great many other things, a patriot and a Momma’s boy. To all these Protestants who claim you are former Catholics, and you say that the Catholic Church taught you not to read the Bible or that you should stay away from the Bible, and that you can't understand it, only the Church can, quit creating calumny and falsehoods. I have literally walked into Mass and they have Bibles out in stands. You can literally contact your diocese and they'll mail you a Bible, as well as the Catechism. I know because I've done it. Vatican II, even the Catechism of the Catholic Church, requires Christians to read the Bible, so just stop with the calumny. There are a lot of things I disagree with in the Catholic Church, but this is not one of them. So stop lying. The Catholic Church teaches to read the Bible. They have study Bibles.
