This is actually refreshing… NVIDIA CEO says water consumption concerns re: Data Centers are now a myth.. they use less water than the average swimming pool over the course of a year he says— energy will be put back into the electrical grid What was refreshing was when discussed... show more

I still don't understand why we need them and what they are for

I disagree… I live in Al. & theyre wanting to clear out an entire area of the Delta right on the river… Home to all kinds of wildlife & animals…one has to wonder why they’re doing it right next to the water… willing to disturb all that natural habitat…

Like pretty much anything else, the powers that be want us divided, for AI centers or against them, when what we should be doing is hashing out how to do this whilst harming the fewest number of people possible. We need more middle ground and less polarized opposition. ☮️

The entire anti-data center is a complete OP. Cities across this country have them all over the place and there was never been an issue.

“BACKWARDS AND POOR”: TRUMP’S MESSAGE TO TOWNS THAT REJECT DATA CENTERS President Trump says communities that reject data centers are choosing to be “backward and poor.” He calls them the “golden goose” and argues China “could not be happier” to see Americans push back against the AI buildout. The message is clear: stop asking questions. Accept the data centers in your community, or you are helping Beijing win. But public opposition is growing across party lines. Communities are raising concerns about water use, power demand, land, and the local cost of a massive AI infrastructure boom. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick says those concerns are foreign propaganda. “Data centers don’t use water,” he claims. That is a major reversal from Lutnick’s own position last year, when he acknowledged that data centers “suck water.” Now, anyone who says the same is accused of repeating enemy propaganda. Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory estimated that U.S. data centers directly consumed roughly 17 billion gallons of water in 2023, before the current AI buildout accelerated. Yes, America is competing with China in artificial intelligence. But invoking China should not end the conversation about what this buildout costs local communities. Mike Adams (HealthRanger) joins me to break down the data-center push, the water question, and why the China argument does not tell the whole story.

Erin Brockovich is sounding the alarm on the impact data centers are having on rural communities' water supply. “These big data centers are coming into rural areas of farmland where a lot of people are on their own well water.” “They report a reduction in water pressure. Their water is just dripping into a bucket.” “They’re very concerned that they could lose their aquifers, and they could literally be out of water.” As AI drives a massive data center boom, many rural communities are raising concerns about depleted aquifers, falling water pressure, and growing strain on local water supplies. Rural families should not be forced to compete with massive corporations for access to clean water and other essential resources. Erin Brockovich

🚨 NOW: VP JD Vance says data centers are NOT controversial as long as they produce their own energy "You should be putting power BACK into the grid — not taking it out. If that happens, data centers are not that controversial." "Build the power plants WITH the data centers. Probably 99% of the backlash to data centers came from areas where building it means higher utility and electricity for the people on the ground." "These companies should take advantage of federal deregulatory efforts we've undertaken." JD and Trump are 100% correct!

President Trump says towns that reject data centers want to stay “backwards and poor.” Dems and Republicans seem to be thinking the same thing: If AI data centers are as good as he says they are, can we put one outside of Mar-a-Lago?

“Facts don’t really matter for the de-growth mob.” — The Washington Post’s James Hohmann The anti–data center hysteria around water was built on a bogus stat about a data center’s water consumption in Chile that was off by a factor of 1,000. All U.S. data centers use less than 0.5% of America’s freshwater. The war on data centers is built on junk math and is funded by China and foreign billionaires!

The UK should be doing the same.

The Inventor of the mRNA Technology, Dr. Robert Malone, Reacts to “Project StarGate” — “I am Blown away…” “The logic of Mr. Ellison is grossly naive. It’s a concept well over 30 years old and it’s been repeatedly discredited….> It’s so naive, it wouldn’t make it past the first 5 minutes of diligence of any of the venture capital firms that I had ever presented to, but here it is.” • He argues that vaccines should not be the solution to cancer — the way cancer should be dealt with is with lifestyle changes including diet. • He says it’d be nice if they succeeded, he’s cheering for that, but knowing the industry and how they operate, and the Federal Government should be nowhere near this. • He says it was a monumental failure for Susie Wiles to allow this to happen on Day 2 of his administration. • Robert says it’s a noble quest that Trump wants to end cancer, “it shows he has a good heart”, but he was hoping Trump learned a few lessons during Covid to not put so much faith in these healthcare technologies. “Spending big Federal money on a Program like this and highlighting it on the 2nd day of your presidency, that just doesn’t compute. I don’t get it.”

Rep. Sam Liccardo says the answer isn’t to make data centers go away, it’s to make hyperscalers bring their own power and help rebuild the grid: "I'm a former mayor. I'm not pro data centers that get a bunch of tax breaks. I'm not pro data centers that drive everybody's utility bills up." "They gotta bring their own power. They gotta protect rate payers. They shouldn't be using any water at all with closed loop systems. They should be contributing to a community benefits fund." "We've got an opportunity now to leverage massive amounts of resources from these hyperscalers to invest in our grid so we can electrify our economy. That is our pathway to a green future." "This should be an opportunity that we take, rather than putting our head in the sand and saying, well, we hope the data centers go away." Sam Liccardo

The OFFICIAL preview with Erin Brockovich “Some data centers can use up to 30 million gallons of water a day. They’re utilizing water from aquifers and municipal waters, and people with their own wells are reporting that their wells are running dry. They’re having to dig deeper because of these mass amounts of water that these data centers require to stay cool. Communities can handle the truth. They will ask questions, they will sit at the table, and they will work with you. But they can never, ever handle the lie. There was no community input on this. You slid it under the table. You did it in the dark of the night. We didn’t even have a chance. We didn’t even have a voice.”

The City of Phoenix announces they are preparing for new water restrictions, including charging people who use a lot of water due to a shortage of water Residents will be on water restrictions, meanwhile Arizona has allowed 24 data centers to be built, with roughly 30 more being planned Arizona is experiencing a major data center boom The shortage of water is due to serious cuts to the Colorado river water supply “The City of Phoenix is anticipating serious cuts to our water supply from the Colorado River — We cannot conserve our way out of the problem of this magnitude. The Water Services Department announced by the end of the year, Phoenix will likely enter stage 2 of the plan where they will have to use backup water supplies to meet demand. It may include things like additional conservation education, expansion of water audits, incentives and rebates to ensure efficient use of water” “It could also bring surcharges, meaning if someone uses more water than what they are allocated, they could face additional charges for it.” But Arizona lawmakers are allowing 30-50+ data centers Make it make sense

Amazon Web Services wants to release water from its data centers into Louisa County's natural water sources, including Lake Anna in Virginia “The draft permit on the table would give Amazon Web Services permission to release 280,000 gallons a day of cooling water from its data centers into Sedges Creek, which flows into Lake Anna. Amazon says it would only use this method during the hottest periods, which it predicts to be 4% of the year.” The most water is much warmer than the water it will be dumping into, this means with this much water it will likely kill the fish population and everything else adapted to the current environment Also Amazon says the water doesn’t touch servers but I found that doesn’t matter Treated Non-Contact Cooling Water: Does not touch servers directly but picks up metals like Zinc, copper, aluminum, cadmium This would be catastrophic

A local utility company in Illinois has plans to help lower residents electrical bills They will be requiring new data centers and planned data centers to sign 10 year contracts saying they will be responsible for paying for upgrade costs and electricity usage costs “That means any new data centers would be on the hook for power upgrades and any energy they plan to use, even if the data center ends up not getting built or if they don't use as much power as planned or if they close. So if they use the power that they're applying for, then they'll pay their fair share of the cost of maintaining and building our grid through their rates”

NVIDIA once built phone chips, grew it into a real business, and then got locked out of that market. Jensen Huang calls it a genuine strategic mistake, and also the reason NVIDIA is in robotics today. This is him at Stanford's CS153, on the bet he says he should have turned down. Important mobile companies came to NVIDIA to build phone chips, and he now thinks the answer was obvious: "The answer when they approached us, the answer should have been, nah, not interested." They took the bet anyway. It grew, and then the 3G-to-4G transition handed the phone's most important part, the modem, to Qualcomm, and NVIDIA was shut out. His point is what he did with the wreckage: "We got shut out... and then went back to zero. But the recovery was I took all of that expertise, that extreme low power and energy efficiency expertise, and I shifted all to an application that didn't exist at the time called robotics." The low-power chip lineage he salvaged became Thor, the brain now going into NVIDIA's robots and cars. He is blunt that going into mobile was a waste of time and a strategic mistake. What saves the story is that the engineering he built for a doomed business turned out to be the seed of the machines NVIDIA is shipping now. Bookmark & watch ↓

I think the discussion about data centers in space is to address another potential bottleneck in the ecosystem, which is energy. I think the Terafab is an example of a major fab project."
