This is an incredibly cool idea for mixed reality social interactions! Four users play together in MR, and every player has his room joined with the rooms of the other players to create a big hybrid room. Thanks to the scene understanding of Quest, you can also have a... rough representation of the furniture the other users have. It's like you remove the distances and you play together in the same space, in this case by throwing each other a hot potato. I discovered this video because a few days ago I posted an article about social AR, and the amazing Ivan Aguilar pointed me to this talk by Jesse Schell at GDC where he talked about the future of MR experiences and showcased this prototype of a mixed reality game. I spent a lot of time thinking, when working for Microsoft Research HCI, about those concepts of physical space anchors and how they can connect to other physical spaces virtually. This video is great, thanks for sharing.

Wouldn't it be cool to interact with real objects in #MixedReality? For instance, doing a simple action like pouring water into your glass and making it become magical with augmentations? I think it would and that's why I made an opensource Unity plugin to make it happen. Currently, mixed reality headsets do not offer object tracking and we have no camera access to implement it ourselves. But I had an idea: since we interact with objects with our hands, why can't we just track the hands to infer the pose of the object we are holding? I tried to carry on this idea and after a few weeks,open-sourceand fully I came up with this opensource plugin that lets you do exactly this. It is an alpha, it has a lot of problems, also because the tracking of the hands becomes a bit glitchy when you are holding an object, but you can already do nice things with it. And it's full opensource and cross-platform (I used AR Foundation), so you can have fun with it however you want. It's a gift I give to the community. I transformed my physical door into a mixed-reality portal that can bring you either to your next room or to magical virtual worlds! You can select where you want to go (like when you choose the floor in an elevator) and then when you open the door, you can exactly go to that place, physical or virtual that it may be. What I love the most is that this demo connects the physicality of the door with mixed reality, so you use a real tool to be able to access virtual realities. I've made this demo using #unity3d and #MetaQuest SDK. I've used Meta Scene Setup, so the demo is fully dynamic: it finds my door and adapts all the interfaces to it. Theoretically, it could work with all sliding doors that work like mine with no modifications to the APK. As usual, I'm thinking of making a blog post where I explain how I did it... let me know if you could be interested! Asmongold was confused while going over The Odyssey’s rating on RottenTomatoes, wondering how the rating was so high compared to websites like Metacritic, YouTube, and any other social media platforms, where everything about The Odyssey was reflecting extremely negative reviews. says there’s something wrong here because this is an outlier 😳👀 “I don't know. How do you have this big of a disparity that you have a 5 in 1, in 1 case and a 9.7 in another? I'm not seeing that. Twitch founder Emmett Shear on how to resolve product roadmap disagreements Emmett argues that disagreement on what to build is actually quite rare after everyone has talked to users and looked at the data. Most disagreements in startups arise because people like to come up with product ideas without talking to users first: “You talk to your users first, and then you have ideas about your product. Almost everyone does it in the opposite order” He continues: “If you find yourself thinking: ‘I’m going to go talk to my users to validate my product idea’, you’ve gone horribly off the rails…If you haven’t talked to users and you haven’t looked at data, you don’t get to have an opinion about the product.
