Wouldn't it be cool to interact with real objects in #MixedReality? For instance, doing a simple action like pouring water into your glass and making it become magical with augmentations? I think it would and that's why I made an opensource Unity plugin to make it happen. Currently, mixed... reality headsets do not offer object tracking and we have no camera access to implement it ourselves. But I had an idea: since we interact with objects with our hands, why can't we just track the hands to infer the pose of the object we are holding? I tried to carry on this idea and after a few weeks,open-sourceand fully I came up with this opensource plugin that lets you do exactly this. It is an alpha, it has a lot of problems, also because the tracking of the hands becomes a bit glitchy when you are holding an object, but you can already do nice things with it. And it's full opensource and cross-platform (I used AR Foundation), so you can have fun with it however you want. It's a gift I give to the community. Very cool! There’s a recent CHI paper (not mine) that investigated this and apparently ppl afterwards feel the non-augmentation reality become more boring 🥲

Love this 😍 I do wish access to the camera was optional, why not give the user access like any other camera on a device? When you open the app, ask if it's ok to have the permission on an app by app basis. But this is great work with what you have access to right now!

I transformed my physical door into a mixed-reality portal that can bring you either to your next room or to magical virtual worlds! You can select where you want to go (like when you choose the floor in an elevator) and then when you open the door, you can exactly go to that place, physical or virtual that it may be. What I love the most is that this demo connects the physicality of the door with mixed reality, so you use a real tool to be able to access virtual realities. I've made this demo using #unity3d and #MetaQuest SDK. I've used Meta Scene Setup, so the demo is fully dynamic: it finds my door and adapts all the interfaces to it. Theoretically, it could work with all sliding doors that work like mine with no modifications to the APK. Since I saw that you liked the video clip I made with Morpheus and the pills, I have created a longer video of the Matrix in anime style. It's not perfect, but with it I want to show the potential of the new Midjourney Editor and Retexture feature, coupled with Runway. With this technique I have used, you can create a version of any movie in the style you want. Cool, isn't it?

This is an incredibly cool idea for mixed reality social interactions! Four users play together in MR, and every player has his room joined with the rooms of the other players to create a big hybrid room. Thanks to the scene understanding of Quest, you can also have a rough representation of the furniture the other users have. It's like you remove the distances and you play together in the same space, in this case by throwing each other a hot potato. I discovered this video because a few days ago I posted an article about social AR, and the amazing Ivan Aguilar pointed me to this talk by Jesse Schell at GDC where he talked about the future of MR experiences and showcased this prototype of a mixed reality game. I've had the experience. I take a shower. I want that beautiful head of hair to be nice and wet. Lather. I want it to be lathered beautifully. But I remember him saying, we don't understand quite how to operate the systems or how they, but they do interact with consciousness so certain and some people they interact with and some people they don't. So certain people will go up to the object and it will respond. And some people go up to the object and it does nothing. So certain types of, I don't know if that's related to DNA or to consciousness or what, whatever, but it's different. People will have a different response and they, they had us kind of walked closer to the, the window and nothing happened. And he didn't describe how it would react. I mean, the fact that we were so deep underground, me and the dude were kind of freaked out and, and, but we didn't display that outwardly because we're trained to not do that, you know? But internally, yeah, I was like, what the hell is going on? And when they talk about optimal stuff, they didn't say it like, by the way, aliens are real like you or anything like of that sort. It was just, oh yeah, this is the off world technology division, this is Chuck, this is whatever. And just started talking like everything was normal and we just went along with it because we acted like it was normal, but the first time I'd ever been exposed to it and it, it was a lot to take in. So that could be part of it too.”

And I, and I can again, like when I meditate and I think about this, I can usually get more back. But just, just like sitting here talking to you and remembering it, it's difficult sometimes. But I remember him saying, we don't understand quite how to operate the systems or how they, but they do interact with consciousness so certain and some people they interact with and some people they don't. So certain people will go up to the object and it will respond. And some people go up to the object and it does nothing. So certain types of, I don't know if that's related to DNA or to consciousness or what, whatever, but it's different. People will have a different response and they, they had us kind of walked closer to the, the window and nothing happened. So we didn't, I mean, I don't know if we got closer or something would've happened, but they, I don't know if they were even looking for that, but maybe, you know, that they, that's one thing he said that like certain people will go near the object and will react. And he didn't describe how it would react. He instead it would react,” RA - “There's a really weird component to this, and I don't know what this means, but when I think back to this particular memory and, and this never happens to me in any other thing, I, I get real fuzzy. It gets real fuzzy, like, like almost like something was purposely done to to, to make it that way. Because I have a very photographic memory and things I've done in the military. Like I can tell you the color of the buttons on a shirt of a guy that I sniped from, you know, 800 feet, 800 meters away. So I mean, I, there's for me to not remember this is really bothers me, but there's, there's some cloudiness when I try to access this part of my brain, you know, I can definitely, maybe it's, it could definitely be the, the objects itself that had, and it felt this, this is why it's difficult because it obviously, it felt weird being down there. Okay. There's, there's something like, there was just, it is an unnatural feeling we're doing. It felt like we were doing something that wasn't normal. I mean, the fact that we were so deep underground, me and the dude were kind of freaked out and, and, but we didn't display that outwardly because we're trained to not do that, you know? But internally, yeah, I was like, what the hell is going on? And when they talk about optimal stuff, they didn't say it like, by the way, aliens are real like you or anything like of that sort. It was just, oh yeah, this is the off world technology division, this is Chuck, this is whatever. And just started talking like everything was normal and we just went along with it because we acted like it was normal, but the first time I'd ever been exposed to it and it, it was a lot to take in. So that could be part of it too.”
