This is called a specular reflection. Undistorted specular reflections are only possible with a flat surface.

What type of distortion in a specular reflection would you expect if the surface was curved by a few hundred microns every 100m? Would you be able to detect it?

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

You realize it is a constant rate of curvature that increases with distance right?

Ramshutu 的头像
Ramshutu13 天前

What part of me stating the saggita over 100m suggested to you that I didn’t grasp that a ball curves for significantly more than 100m? Are you unable to answer my question?

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

Probably the part where you said every 100m

Ramshutu 的头像
Ramshutu13 天前

Which part? Any two points 100m apart have a the saggita begween them is a few hundred microns. Thats correct. You understand the difference between sequential and cumulative right?

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

Haha yeah that’s the entire point. So you’re saying you just made a nonsense point? Okay cool.

Ramshutu 的头像
Ramshutu13 天前

What part of me accurately describing what the curve of the earth is over 100m “a nonsense point” Seems like you’re trying to pretend there is a problem with what I said so you can avoid answering the question that illustrates how vacuous your claim is…

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

The curve of the earth would be effectively parabolic for hundreds of miles. Your point is literally nonsense and irrelevant.

Man. You guys waste so much time on all these unimportant visuals you don’t quite understand, and yet ignore the unresolvable. The sun can never rise or set on a flat earth with a local sun circling above it. It will never even come close to the horizon. Proof: No matter what altitude or size of sun, it will never rise or set. And yet it does, in reality. Sunsets debunk flat earth - it’s really that simple, everything else is noise.

Flat earthers think mirrors only work if they're totally flat. That's cute, but very, VERY stupid. 🤣

Jared Morrison 🎭🔬 的头像
Jared Morrison 🎭🔬13 天前

Why? The radius of curvature of that surface is over 100,000x larger than the minimum acceptable radius of curvature for a flat glass mirror. Translation: that surface, according to globe (spherical) geometry is significantly flatter than a flat bathroom mirror.

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

Allowable error in commercial glass is irregular deviation from a plane such as undulations etc. It is not a single, constant-radius sphere. Earth’s surface, on the globe model, is a systematic convexity with one radius. That is an entirely different kind of departure from flat. Those two things are not interchangeable.

Jared Morrison 🎭🔬 的头像
Jared Morrison 🎭🔬13 天前

The radius of curvature for the globe is MASSIVE. Any visible distance across a body of water, unless viewed from an extreme altitude, will appear perfectly flat to the human eye. The pic you provided should effectively have zero distortion using globe geometry.

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

Wait so you acknowledge your argument is stupid and not applicable at all? The globe is massive means nothing.. it supposedly has a radius of 3959 miles thus curves at a specific rate. This is just a cool video.. we have undistorted long distance specular reflection observations and you are completely incorrect. The globe model says we should see curvature from the ground constantly all the time. Also, what I stated in the post is just an objective fact.

Jared Morrison 🎭🔬 的头像
Jared Morrison 🎭🔬13 天前

The globe model does not say we should “see curvature from the ground constantly.” It says there IS curvature. My point is that the degree of curvature due to the radius of curvature is so minuscule that it is NOT perceptible to the human eye at ground level. It appears flat.

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

And your point is objectively wrong. The curve of the earth would be effectively parabolic for hundreds of miles and absolutely would be perceptible at ground level.

You need to check manufacturing tolerances - hardened mirror glass has a 3:1000 bow tolerance A 3mi horizon has a 6:15,840 dip, or 3:7,920 to keep things common That’s 8x shallower than a mirror Even at 10mi the dip is only 3:2,400, 2.4x shallower That’s an oops for FE…

This is called an Equatorial Mount. It only works on a Globe. Tangible, irrefutable proof of the Globe. Another amazing aspect of this mount is that it entices flat Earthers to publicly expose their weakness in geometry and spatial reasoning. This is the easiest way to bait a flat Earther into showing you his weakness in Geometry.

If only you were intelligent enough to comprehend the scale…

I am.. hence me knowing the undistorted long distance specular reflection observations we have stretching over dozens of miles are impossible.

private parts 的头像

lol. You do realize that the reflection can not be identical from this perspective even if the earth was flat eh. You still don’t see the difference though… because of the magnitude..

private parts 的头像

I thought you just claimed to be intelligent enough to understand the scale, claiming you’d see variations but seems you forgot seeing the sky directly, simultaneously via reflection which is a different angular perspective will absolutely be a variation, yet unobservable=Scale

And you can tell it's perfectly undistorted JUST by looking at it? Rather than, you know, MEASURING it? Whatever "it" is, you most certainly do not "Get" it.

How far from perfect flatness must it be before you can perceive the distortion, do you think? If the mirror were curved by less than 1/20th of a degree across its surface, would you notice it?

While large portions of the earth plane are flat it doesn't mean all of it is. In fact, the land still has to curve under the ocean to contain it. Maybe one day you'll affirm the glory of Yahuah's spherical & sapphire raqia, Witsit.

In no way does your reply address mine and everybody who reads it will now be just a little bit stupider for having done so. Gg.

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

Your comment is just ignorant my man.. no part of a globe is actually flat. It has a constant rate of curvature.. did I actually need to reply to that? I addressed your other point. The literal scriptural description of earth describes a plane earth with a dome.. hence that being the Hebrew cosmology for thousands of years.

Here is the reflection of a man in a mirror that curves vertically with a curvature radius of 1 km. Do you expect to be able to percieve the distorsion of a mirror with a curvature radius of 6 000 km ?

Concave Earth 的头像

Says who? The land is curving upwards in the distance because the earth is concave. It's been proven and flat earth doesn't work, whatsoever.

Göran Andersson 的头像

That is not an undistorted reflection. The surface bends by 1° in 60 nautical miles. If it was flat, there wouldn't be a horizon hiding the lower part of the mountains.

Lynnwood Nester 的头像
Lynnwood Nester13 天前

Could the phenomenon you assertions occur on glass or a mirror? Windows and mirrors are more than 10 LESS "flat" than the curvature of Earth.

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

They do not have a constant rate of curvature.. they allow for slight undulations etc. but the mirror does not curve at a constant rate bc it would distort the image. We have long distances undistorted specular reflection observations dozens of miles.

Lynnwood Nester 的头像
Lynnwood Nester13 天前

Sounds like you're missing the point. If a sufficiently large window or mirror existed, it would produce the same spectacular reflection whether or not it was "absolutely" flat, or whether it had a curvature with a radius of 3,963 miles.

Witsit 的头像
Witsit13 天前

That is objectively not true. The drop of earth would effectively be parabolic for hundreds of miles. You are the one that seems to be missing the point.

A WIDE angle (min 60°) rectilinear lens shows clear curvature at high altitude. Of course Flat Earthers never use these lenses. Instead they hide the truth with fisheye distortion or a narrow field of view. Their entire approach is about deception and manipulation.

You literally went to Antarctica and visually saw first hand proof of something that is impossible on a Flat Earth and did multiple tests/observations to verify several Flat Earth claims which all came out to be false. Yet here you are still pushing the FE narrative. Did you see the outlash towards Jeran after he admitted he was wrong and you decided that you didn’t want that to happen to you? Did the rest of the FE cult scare you into submission so you wouldn’t speak out against it?

Specular reflection is possible on any SMOOTH surface you fucking moron lol. It doesn't have shit to do with being flat. How do you idiots manage to get even the most simple, baseline facts about EVERYTHING wrong? It seems you would accidentally get something right by chance.
