This is coming from the Chief on whose land Goldfields has been operating for close to 30 years. 🤕

The chiefs are rising, and this is exactly what the country expects to see development and leadership, not political party affiliations. I remember one Sunday on the road to Gold Fields, barely 1.5 km from the entrance, a massive section of the road suddenly collapsed. It took almost two days to fix, and in the end, it was only filled with gravel despite the fact that it is their own heavy-duty trucks that constantly use the road. Then you build a community toilet with only 5 sections for boys and 5 for girls, and still expect Ghanaians to renew your contract? Communities deserve real development, not temporary solutions.

So you see, we are not saying they should put their revenue to develop the area but at least they could have made the town attractive that anyone who enters the town would say yes they mine gold there and the people are being impacted but see where we are. No renewal

@eii_braakofi Give the company to a Ghanaian and he will not be able to do what the foreign companies can do. Not even a quarter… most Ghanaian companies don’t pay well.

Give it to a Ghanaian company and insist on the better benefit for the village, infrastructure, and other benefits including employment opportunities. It'll work out when the proper policy is put in place, there's always a first to to everything. Let Ghanaian company take over

He's being polite....last thing we need now. Let's call a spade spade, and get these companies out of the country 😔

What the chief is claiming as significant projects r mediocre. What is a stadium? Imagine white people having that vast of resources, do we think, that’ll be the deal they’ll strike with investors? It was Brits that helped the Arabs to discover oil but the deal favored the Arabs.

This the best opportunity for the country and Tarkwa specifically to get a better deal.

@ArmahKofiBuah It’s okay. Goldfields’ fleeced Ghana enough. Considering that the South Africans want Ghanaians out of their Country, we demand that the mine is taken from them, locally owned and operated. Even if the owners rip off the employees, the CSR dept will develop Ghana.

Hmmmm their contract should not be renewed.

Well, can we blame the mining company? In Africa we negotiate like idiots for personal gains.

This chief is not serious. Listen to the nonsense he is mentioning as projects. They have not done enough and they must leave. If anyone fools with us, we shall visit them. Enough is enough. It is game over

Our leaders allowed these companies to abuse our towns and rape them of resources with no significant development in the towns they operate.

Yet still some like @Donsarkcess @_benopaonyx1 thinks dey know better mmoa

@nmuntaka Our leaders are weak 😔 it's not helping this country at all

What was done.

Let me state emphatically that I am NDC but NDC make any mistake and renew the contract of Goldfields I will support NPP.

This is why Dormaahene do not allow foreign mining companies on his Land

Dont dare give it to goldfields again .....

Very good now government should step in take and give it to a Ghanaian

Instead of him to go straight to the point, look at how he's doing

Dem pay chairman be that

@iamkudzo Glad to hear him acknowledge what the company did. However, considering the profits they made over the period, he believes there was room to do much more. That’s how we critique 🙏🙏. If it were a politician to another politician, I bet you the language… 🤔🤐

He should just speak out. Corrupt people always stammer

Yes, bloggers think they know better

Have a look at this idea for indigenous companies

He’s trying to be nice but they haven’t done enough at all

By now I expect government to sack every South African company in Ghana and let Ghanaians take over. Mtcheew

He should be talking about infrastructure, sky scrappers, parks exotic parks international standard schools affordable to communities etc
