This is exactly right from David Sacks interview with Bret Baier: "One of the things that Jacob and others have claimed is we can reach a deal with China, and that if we pause, they will pause. And there is simply no basis for believing that. Chinese officials have...

@DavidSacks @BretBaier It's a load of crap and they know it. Question: What do they get out of trashing the American AI program? Financial gain? Loan forgiveness? Stock in a company? I can't figure out why they're doing this.

Some opt outs are out of your hands. Europe tried & failed to opt out of global competition & fossil fuels, damaging its economy badly. The Soviets couldn't opt out of nuclear, once the US had it (nor did they try). Similarly, no one can opt out of AI, even if we wanted.

"If you look at what has happened in Eastern Congo, and everything we have gone through over the past four or five years, and you look at what we have left behind, there is evidence. There are facts that speak for themselves. In Eastern Congo, in Goma and elsewhere, the whole world came together against Rwanda. The whole world lined up against Rwanda: the FDLR and all the groups associated with it that have been mentioned, the Wazalendo, the Burundian forces, the FARDC, the South Africans, and many others. I would rather not spend time naming them all; there were so many. When you look at the scale of what they had assembled there and what they were up against, it is clear that what they were trying to do was wage war against Rwanda, destabilize our country, and reshape it the way they wanted. In fact, they said so themselves. Ordinarily, if someone were to say these things without evidence, you might think they were simply trying to frighten people, to intimidate them. To convince themselves that what they wanted was within reach and that they were going to achieve it, they even brought in mercenaries. You know that many of them passed through here. We gave free passage to our enemies, allowing them to leave a war they waged against us, a war that was never theirs to begin with. That alone tells you something. And it is also something for which our forces, together with others who stood with them, deserve recognition. As for Rwanda, we will always be in a struggle for our very existence. Regardless of those who wish us harm, surrounding us from many sides, one thing remains true: we should and will always be a step ahead of them. It is our right. It is our will. And our history has taught us that we have within ourselves the capacity to defend and protect ourselves whenever necessary. And that is exactly what we will continue to do." HUGE NEWS: CEOs of 3 of the 4 leading AI companies all said they would pause/slow down if others agreed Anthropic CEO: If we don't sell chips to China, it slows them down. And then? "I'm very confident that [Demis and I] can work something out." EMILY CHANG: Some folks have advocated for a pause to give regulation time to catch up, to give society time to adjust to some of these changes. In a perfect world, if you knew that every other company would pause, if every country would pause, would you advocate for that? DEMIS HASSABIS: I think so. [DAVOS INTERVIEW] DEMIS HASSABIS: And if we can, maybe it would be good to have a bit of slow, a slightly slower pace than we're currently predicting, even my timelines, so that we can get this right societally. But that would require some coordination that is hard. DARIO AMODEI: I prefer your [longer] timelines DEMIS HASSABIS: Yes. Absolutely. DARIO AMODEI: I'll concede, yes... I said before, I prefer Demis' timeline. I wish we had 5 to 10 years. It's possible he's just right and I'm just wrong. But assume I'm right and it can be done in one to two years. Why can't we slow down to Demis' timeline? INTERVIEWER: You could just slow down. DARIO AMODEI: We can't do that because we have geopolitical adversaries building the same technology at a similar pace. It's very hard to have an enforceable agreement where they slow down and we slow down. So if we can just not sell the chips [to China], then this isn't a question of competition between the US and China. This is a question of competition between me and Demis, which I'm very confident that we can work out.

Chamath: "Nvidia is not doing what's in the best interest of the United States." 🇺🇸🇨🇳 "I think we can all do the math. About 47% of all of NVIDIA's revenue goes to China and Chinese-related countries." "And I think when you peel back this onion, what you will find is a whole raft of companies that were stood up to buy these Nvidia GPUs to essentially act as a waystation for China." "And I think that is the big problem." "Let's have a thought starter: if 47% of all of the AI capability and horsepower is being shipped to three Asian countries, where do you think the apps that require that amount of horsepower live?" "Is there a Cursor of Bhutan that we did not know? Is there a great shopping app in Cambodia that's come out of nowhere, that's AI powered?" "I think the answer is no." "Every single time we have an advance in the United States, how is it that Alibaba shows up with something incredible? DeepSeek shows up with something better?" "At every turn and at every step of AI, they are at the same rate or one step ahead." "To be honest with you, I think the real problem that we have is that Nvidia is not doing what is in the best interest of the United States." "You have a American company that has been working around the guidelines at every turn to try to land silicon into the hands of China." "Late last year, they introduced this thing called the H20 that was explicitly designed for China and to be compliant with US rules at the time." "Which again, gives these guys substantial performance." "This is a case where (Nvidia) has plausible deniability. I sell something to a Singaporean registered company? Plausible deniability." "What am I supposed to do? You can't expect me to audit it. I think that's what NVIDIA's answer will be to this question." "But what is the real expectation? At a minimum, the United States should have a mechanism to understand it." "It is implausible that if you did one or two layers of work, you would not find that most of this traffic is being used by Chinese organizations."

‼️ Donald Trump just posted the video saying any immigrant that comes to America and demand we change our culture is not an immigrant, they are an invader and must be removed “Just so we we’re clear, if a foreigner comes to your country and demands that you accept their culture as your culture or demands that you change your beliefs, that is not a foreigner, that is not an immigrant. What that is, is an invader. That is someone that is coming over to your space to take over and invade it. So when you sit there and you look at what's happening in New York, you look at what's happening in Texas, you look at what's happening in the places where these people came from, you look at Somalia, you look at all of these individuals who are being put into a position of power who support this type of invasion. You need to understand what's coming next. - They will take away our weapons - They will tell us that we cannot eat certain foods - They will tell us that we cannot go to certain places - They will tell that our women that they have to wear certain clothes - They will tell them that they have to dress modest. They will forced them to do a lot of different things. - You will have to deal with people praying in the middle of the street while you're driving and stopping you and invading your movement, your space You need to understand what's taking place in America so that you can understand that these people are not coming here with good intentions. This is not me saying that I hate people. This is me basically saying, look, if you like the fact that America is a free place where you get the freedom to believe in what religion you want to, to believe in. If you get the freedom to decide what you want to do as long as nobody is getting hurt. If you love that part of America, the freedom of choice part of America, you need to understand when people come over and they say that you don't have a choice, they probably should go because you don't get to tell us what to do in our own country. It's not being rude. It's just saying, hey, look, this country was built in a way where everybody can come here and feel happy and feel blessed. And enjoy the fact that this is a free nation, not a nation that will be enslaved by any Foreigner invading it”
