Serious question. If he hustles out the box and goes for second, but gets thrown out because he’s a slug… are you calling him out for bad decisions on the base path in a 1 run game?

The Left fielder picked up the ball in 7.5 seconds from the time Devers made contact. Even if he was out I would love to see him hustle in a 1 run game. Put pressure on the defense and maybe they throw the ball into RF. But I think he would have made it.

Good answer and I don’t disagree with your sentiment here. However, I do agree with the other folks as well that these are some of the warts that come with Rafi. He’s proven not to be a leader in this respect. I would imagine should we be on pace to win 105 games you would see that effort out of him because there would be other leaders in the clubhouse that would demand that of him. Not making an excuse, just my observation now that I’ve had an extended look at him on daily basis. Then there’s the half stride. Devers can hit, no question. But he’s not the type of veteran you want your young guys watching and learning how to play the game from. Talent is one thing. Effort and professionalism are another. Frustrating to watch.
