A juvenile rider chose to flee from deputies through a residential neighborhood, reaching speeds and taking risks that endangered everyone nearby. Riding carelessly, the rider narrowly avoided crashing into a fence that could have resulted in...

DANGEROUS MOTORCYCLIST TAKEN OFF THE STREETS The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office doesn’t play when it comes to traffic safety. We’ve heard your complaints loud and clear! Dangerous motorcyclists putting lives at risk will not be tolerated. On May 15th, a reckless rider turned a high-crash corridor into his personal racetrack. Now, he’s behind bars. At PM, Deputy Vincent with our Traffic Unit spotted a white and orange sport bike speeding 67 MPH in a 45 MPH zone on University Blvd. When he attempted to stop the rider, the suspect intentionally fled, weaving through traffic, and even using the bicycle lane to pass vehicles (including another deputy) at high speed. Deputies Montgomery and Brown coordinated quickly, blocking the suspect at a red light, removing the rider from the motorcycle. Brandon Watts, age 40, from Denver was taken into custody without injury to deputies or damage to vehicles. He is now facing charges of Felony Eluding, Habitual Traffic Offender, No Insurance, Unregistered Vehicle, Obstruction, Reckless Driving, and he had Multiple Active Warrants. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is initiating the vehicle forfeiture process to seize the motorcycle used in this criminal activity. If you use a vehicle to commit crimes - especially to flee from law enforcement - you risk losing your ride. “Let this be a warning,” said Sheriff Darren Weekly. “If you run from us in Douglas County, there are consequences, and one of them might be forfeiting your vehicle.”

Parents, electric dirt bikes are NOT e-bikes. Walton County Sheriff's Office, Florida is seeing an increase in electric dirt bikes, also called “e-motos”, being ridden in neighborhoods and on public roads. Monday, six of these electric dirt bikes were impounded and citations were issued to juveniles 11-14 years old. Many Do NOT have pedals, have high-powered motors, and are designed only for off-road use. Under Florida law, these vehicles are NOT street legal. It’s illegal to ride electric dirt bikes or "e-motos" on public roads, bike lanes, and sidewalks in Walton County. Driving an unregistered, electric dirt bike on a public road can lead to citations, fines, impoundment, and a mandatory court date. Parents are responsible for making sure e-motos are used legally and safely. Even if it was a gift for Christmas and thought to be an e-bike, many of these are electric dirt bikes and the rules of the road are different. Allowing a child to ride an e-moto on streets or sidewalks puts them and everyone around them at serious risk. E-Bike vs. Electric Dirt Bike or E-Moto ✅ E-Bike: • Has pedals with electric assist • Designed for roads, bike paths, and shared spaces • Typically, lower speeds and requires less protective gear • Less than 750 watts • Can travel 28 mph or less depending on class of bike • Classified as a bicycle 🚫 Electric Dirt Bike / E-Moto: • All throttle • Higher power and higher speeds • Built for off-road terrain only • Requires full protective gear • 750 watts or more • Can travel up to 70 mph • Classified as a motor vehicle ➡️ NOT legal on streets or sidewalks Our goal is education and safety. Not enforcement after something goes horribly wrong and ends in a tragedy. When these e-motos are operated illegally on public roads and sidewalks, enforcement action will be taken. We're here if you need us.

Negligence or Ignorance? Minor Riding two wheeler KA-04-JU-7038 in Traffic Raises Concern Look at this boy his age, his height and what he is doing on a busy public road. He appears to be no more than 10 years old, yet he is riding a two-wheeler in traffic. He isn’t even able to properly control the vehicle from the seat; instead, he stands on the footboard while riding, and when he stops, he jumps off onto the road and tries to hold the vehicle. This is not just unsafe it is a serious accident waiting to happen. What is even more alarming is the role of the parents. How can anyone allow a child of such a young age to operate a motor vehicle on a public road? This is not a harmless act or something to be taken lightly. It is a clear violation of traffic laws and a direct threat to the child’s life as well as the safety of others on the road. Calling this “modernization” or “confidence-building” is completely misguided. This is sheer negligence and irresponsibility. A child who has barely begun to grow should not be put in a position where one mistake could lead to a life-altering tragedy. Roads are already unpredictable and dangerous even for experienced riders expecting a young child to handle such conditions is beyond reckless. Authorities must take strict action against such violations, and parents need to understand that responsibility comes before convenience or misplaced pride. Allowing a minor to ride a vehicle is not just illegal, it reflects a complete disregard for safety, law, and basic common sense. Karnataka State Police S. This video shows our deputies conducting a traffic stop when a vehicle speeds past them without following Colorado’s Move Over Law. When deputies, or anyone, are stopped on the side of the road, they’re in harm’s way. Slowing down and moving over isn’t just common sense for keeping people safe, it’s the law. “Our deputies are honored to stand alongside the Colorado State Patrol in remembering Trooper Cody Donahue,” said Douglas County Sheriff Darren Weekly. “Being part of this operation isn’t just about enforcing the law; it’s about protecting the men and women who serve on our roadways every day. When drivers move over and slow down, they help ensure that tragedies like the one that took Trooper Donahue’s life are never repeated. We owe it to him, his family, and every roadside worker to keep safety at the forefront.” The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with the Colorado State Patrol, will be conducting extra traffic enforcement in Douglas County on November 26, 2025. This enforcement effort is in remembrance of Trooper Cody Donahue, Colorado State Patrol, who was tragically struck and killed in the line of duty while investigating a motor vehicle crash on I-25. The goal of this operation is to reinforce safe driving habits, ensure compliance with traffic laws, and remind motorists of the importance of the Slow Down, Move Over Law. Thank you for helping keep our roadways safe. Let’s honor Trooper Donahue by driving responsibly.

Y'all, we need to talk about e-bikes, dirt bikes and off-road vehicles. A group of our PAR officers were working proactive patrol a few weeks back when they were alerted to a group of people on off-road dirt bikes, e-bikes and four wheelers traveling on East Colfax. Our officers found the riders and observed them doing wheelies, weaving in and out of traffic and quite literally ignoring any and all traffic laws. The group continued down Colfax, but officers lost sight of them due to their erratic driving. Our Real Time Information Center used city cameras to help track the riders. They were seen continuing to drive recklessly. The group eventually pulled into a gas station; unaware we were hot on their trail. When officers pulled in with their lights activated, the group ran. Five got away. One did not. 30-year-old Noel Loya Payan was arrested at the gas station without further incident. He is facing charges including careless driving, obstruction, prohibited use of an off-highway vehicle on a public roadway, weaving and failure to obey traffic signals. He also had a warrant out of Northglenn. This time it was adults treating our streets like their personal playground. But more often than not, it is juveniles. Teenagers riding vehicles they should not be operating and doing so recklessly on busy roads. It’s not just a nuisance to other drivers, it’s also illegal. Aurora city code already prohibits off highway vehicles like dirt bikes from being used on any public roads, trails, sidewalks or parks within city limits. Parents or guardians who knowingly allow minors to ride them in the city can face a minimum $250 fine. Whether you're 15 or 30, our streets are not a racetrack. Ride responsibly. Because of such arrogant riders Walking in Bengaluru Feels Like a Death Sentence This scooty rider on Thanisandra Road is not just violating traffic rules; he is openly displaying arrogance and a complete lack of civic sense. Riding on a footpath and then defiantly saying, “I will stand here and I won’t move,” shows how casually some people treat public safety in this city. This is not confidence or bravery it is sheer entitlement and disregard for the lives of others who are actually meant to use that space.A footpath is not an alternative road for impatient riders. It exists for pedestrians children walking to school, elderly citizens, women, and people with disabilities who already struggle to survive on Bengaluru’s hostile roads. When riders occupy footpaths, pedestrians are pushed onto fast-moving traffic, turning every short walk into a gamble with death. This selfish behavior directly contributes to the growing number of pedestrian accidents in the city.Bengaluru’s pedestrian safety crisis is real and terrifying. Every year, more than 200 pedestrians lose their lives, and nearly 28 percent of road accident victims are people on foot. Despite these shocking numbers, illegal riding and parking of two-wheelers on footpaths continues unchecked, especially in areas like Thanisandra. This is not ignorance; it is willful lawlessness, enabled by weak enforcement and a mindset that believes rules apply only to others. People like this rider are not harmless rule-breakers. They are part of the reason walking in Bengaluru has become dangerous. Their convenience comes at the cost of someone else’s safety, yet they show no remorse when confronted. Such behavior reflects a deeper problem where violating the law is normalized and respecting pedestrians is seen as optional. If this attitude continues, Bengaluru will remain a city where pedestrians are treated as obstacles rather than citizens. Authorities must stop tolerating such violations and enforce strict action without excuses. Footpaths are not shortcuts, not parking spaces, and not personal property. They are meant for pedestrians, and reclaiming them is no longer a choice it is a necessity to save lives. Karnataka State Police S.
