I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Hon'ble Chief Minister Sh. Suvendu Adhikari ji for taking up the establishment of a Medical College in Kalimpong district on a priority basis. Since 2019, I have been pushing for the establishment of a medical college in our hills, However, the discriminatory Trinamool Congress government under Mamata Banerjee repeatedly blocked this vital project, denying our people the basic right to quality healthcare and development. Today, under the dynamic and pro-people BJP government led by CM Suvendu Adhikari ji, justice is finally being done for our region and people. The West Bengal government has announced that it will forward the proposal for a Medical College in Kalimpong, along with new medical colleges in Alipurduar, South Dinajpur, and West Burdwan hu. This is a proud moment for the entire region. Immediately after the BJP government was formed, I had written to the Hon'ble Chief Minister requesting for the establishment of the medical college here, and I am deeply thankful that our request has been accepted with such speed and seriousness. I also express my profound thanks to Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and the Central Government for their unwavering commitment to the development of our Darjeeling hills, Terai, and Dooars.

This week, the team provided care and wound change for 20 cases in the camp. Without this care, the wounds could get infected and amputations might be necessary. This “doctor” deserves to be famous for the gross negligence she has shown to patients. Dr Windell Boutte practiced aesthetic surgery and dermatology in Lilburn, Georgia. Icilma Cornelius wanted a “glow up” for her wedding. She had Botox and some fillers but was persuaded to have a tummy tuck and lipo by Dr Boutte. Dr Boutte was only certified in dermatology. Not surgery. During the 8 hour operation, Icilma had a heart attack. Not only could Dr Boutte not handle medical emergencies, some of her staff were not even medically qualified and the elevator was too small to take Icilma’s stretcher. The delays resulted in Icilma suffering brain damage. She became completely dependent on her son who was her full time carer until she died 7 years later. This is not the first such case for Dr Boutte, a doctor who has posted videos of herself with medical instruments in hand, dancing around patients on the operating table. She has had 28 medical malpractice lawsuits, a “record” according to her insurance company. She had her license revoked by the medical board in Georgia but it is reported that she moved to Texas and worked at a medical spa, Eden Med Spa under the name Catherine Davis (her middle and maiden names). The spa has now taken her off their books.

Built as an isolation ward for international air passengers during COVID, the building has been repurposed as a Centre for Hospice Care as a part of Madras Medical College, at a cost of ₹30.16 crore. The 180-bedded Centre for Hospice Care for terminally-ill cancer patients was inaugurated in February. Almost all of them are expected to end their hunger strike today. After that, only Sonam Wangchuk and 3–4 AISF members will remain on hunger strike. They will probably end their hunger strike tomorrow or the day after as well, because they can no longer tolerate the hunger.

Nina, who has gone through inexpressible horrors all her life, has been amazingly forgiving to humans, and has developed a strong emotional bond with her keeper in a very short time. Our team is at her side day and night to assist whenever she needs them. Our team understands the gravity of the situation and is doing the best to provide Nina with the best medical care.
