This Chinese developer linked two $2,999 NVIDIA DGX Sparks into one box and runs the full Qwen3-235B at home, after dropping his $1,999-a-month cloud bill to zero. He wired 2 small boxes into a single computer, split a giant 235-billion-parameter model in half between them, and serves it across his own network at about 10 tokens a second, with no internet, no cloud, right there on the desk. No data center, no thousand-dollar graphics cards, no monthly cloud bill. Just him, 2 gold boxes the size of a sandwich, one cable between them, and 1 power strip. And here is the whole payoff. He used to pay the cloud $1,999 a month for the same model, and the meter ticked on every request. Now he paid $5,998 once for 2 boxes, they covered their cost in 3 months, and after that he sends as many requests as he wants for free, only electricity. The two Sparks talk over one fast cable, each holds 128GB of memory, and together they carry the whole model, about 73GB loaded per box, with the chip inside pinned near the limit at 96%. Both boxes work as one and keep trading data over the cable, with no cloud in the loop and no single word leaking out. The ready model sits on one local address, and any app on his network calls it as easily as ChatGPT. And here is how he described, in plain words, what this pair of boxes does: "this is a pair of boxes that holds the huge Qwen3-235B model and serves it to one network. the model is split in half, and each box owns its half. parts: // Box 1 (holds the first half of the model and starts the answer fast, the first word appears in under a second) // Box 2 (holds the second half and writes out the rest, about 10 tokens a second) // Cable (connects the 2 boxes and moves data between them on every step, with no lag) // Address (one local address where any app sends its request, like to a cloud model) // Test (a script that runs big prompts through and measures speed and delays) // Monitor (checks temperature, power draw, and load on both boxes every 2 seconds). the model never goes to the cloud. he only steps in when a box runs hotter than 80 degrees or the cable between them starts dropping data." So the system knows exactly what it is, what it is for, and where its limits are. It knows it has to hold the whole huge model across 2 boxes on its own. It knows it has to answer every request locally, with no meter, no limits, and no internet. It knows the human is only needed when a box overheats or the link between them stalls. → The setup runs around the clock on 2 boxes, each pulling under 60 watts → However many requests he sends, the monthly bill is $0, only electricity → The first box starts the answer in under a second → The second writes text at about 10 tokens a second → One request at a time: 838 tokens in 85 seconds, first word in 0.8s → Two requests at once: 697 tokens in 108 seconds, first word in 0.7s → Both boxes sit at 96% load and warm up to 76-78 degrees And only when a chip in a box runs hotter than 80 degrees or the cable between the 2 Sparks drops data does the system call the owner. And when he himself is out on a run or in a coffee shop, he still reaches his own model at home from his phone: sends a big prompt to the local Qwen3-235B, gets the full answer back in under a minute and a half, with no token meter ticking and no limit to hit. Here is what the test shows on his screen during one of the night runs: "one request at a time: 838 tokens in 84.9 seconds, first word in 0.8s, then 0.1s per token." "two requests at once: 697 tokens in 107.6 seconds, first word in 0.7s, then 0.15s per token." "Box 1: chip at 96% load, 76 degrees, 56 watts, 73GB used in memory." "Box 2: chip at 96% load, 78 degrees, 56 watts, the Qwen3-235B model fully loaded." And while everyone around is paying for AI by the month and bumping into limits, his top-tier model just sits on the desk and works as much as he wants: his own little power plant instead of a forever meter. He has no server rack of his own and no cloud account behind it. Just 2 DGX Spark boxes on a desk, one model split in half between them, one local address, and a folder of prompts next to it. Out of everything I have seen this year, this is the cleanest way to stop paying for AI: $5,998 of hardware on the desk once, $0 a month to the cloud, unlimited forever, and between them 2 gold boxes, 1 cable, and the full Qwen3-235B answering at home with no internet.

One guy built this app in a month and now it makes him more than $1,000,000 a year. No team. No investors. No marketing department. One developer. One month. One clever idea. The app is a camera for events. In its first month it got 100,000 downloads and he did not spend a single dollar on ads. Here is how he did it because the most interesting part is the growth itself. He did not bolt marketing onto the product. He made using the product the marketing itself. After that things kick in that almost nobody figures out. 1. You cannot use the app alone. For it to work the host has to pull every guest into it. Each install drags in dozens more right away. 2. One wedding is not one user but a whole crowd at once. 200 people scan one code in an evening and install the app. No ad brings that many for the same money and here the money is zero. 3. The guest becomes the host. He liked it at someone else's wedding and a month later he throws his own event and brings his own people. The loop spins itself and for free. 4. It does not look like an ad. To the guest it is a gift not some app forced on him. So they install it gladly and all of them do. 5. It all runs on emotion. A wedding. Memories. Shared shots. People film it and show their own people and a new wave comes in. Now let us count the money plain and honest. The subscription runs from 2 to 50 dollars. Say only every 20th person pays. That is 5,000 people out of 100,000. The average check a modest 20 dollars. 5,000 times 20 is 100,000 dollars a month. More than 3,000 a day. More than $1,000,000 a year. And all of this is one guy in a month without a single dollar on ads. He did not win on budget and not on a team. He won by sewing distribution into the very use of the product. You can lift almost any product this way. Could you build something like this on your own or is it just luck?

So again, extreme efficiency) - He single-handedly saved free speech in the west by buying Twitter, and X is valued at 44 billion - He cut 80% of the X workforce and increased gross margins by 4x in profitability. Profitability by 2.5x (And yes, we all know that revenue declined because he stood for free speech. So he lost advertising dollars, but he saved free speech. So thanks) - This doesn't even touch Neuralink, which is valued at 8 billion - The boring company, which is valued at 7 billion - Tesla robots or the Hyperloop at Neuralink - He's literally working to cure blindness, paralysis and working to allow communication with people who were previously unable to communicate - He's solving traffic congestion and reimagining our transportation, making that again, more efficient And while he's doing all of this, he's literally Volunteering like 20 hours a day to help the American people. The world has never seen anyone like Elon Musk. I genuinely feel bad for those who are not intelligent enough to appreciate Elon Musk and what he's doing for society because accomplishing just one of the things that he's accomplished in a lifetime would far exceed everyone else on the face of this earth. And since it's so easy, why don't you do it all? So again, if not Elon, then who?”

The CEO of the company behind Claude went on the record. Saying things that should be front page news in every country on Earth. His name is Dario Amodei and he runs Anthropic. He just said we are “near the end of the exponential.” The end of the climb as in like we’re about to arrive. He says AI will handle end to end software engineering in 1 to 2 years. Build, test, compile ship with no humans in the loop. He calls it “a country of geniuses in a data center.” Millions of AI instances, each one at the level of a Nobel Prize winner, running 24/7, thinking at superhuman speed. His best guess is 1 to 3. He puts 90% odds on it happening within a decade and says it would be “crazy” to bet against it by 2035. The only reason he won’t say 99%? Someone might invade Taiwan and blow up the chip factories. Now here’s where it gets dark. He says AI could wipe out half of all entry level white collar jobs. Lawyers, consultants, analysts within 1 to 5 years. Anthropic’s own research says programmers are the most exposed profession on Earth. 74.5% of their tasks can already be done by AI. And this isn’t the part that scared him most. He described this AI as the single most serious national security threat humanity has faced in a century. A digital nation with the IQ of 50 million geniuses. He’s not some doomer on Reddit, he built this and he’s building the next version right now. The most powerful man in AI just told the world exactly what’s coming. Almost nobody is listening.

Through Technology, a Centuries-Old Battle Is Coming to a Head "A Discussion of Open-Source AI with Travis Oliphant" Travis Oliphant Travis Oliphant is an entrepreneur and CEO and co founder of OpenTeams (OpenTeams®), a company that “helps organizations deploy, support, and own [AI] technology at enterprise scale.” One of their tag lines is “Connecting Companies with Communities.” As a data scientist and software developer, Travis is known for his contributions to Python and as the creator of NumPy and a founding contributor to SciPy, which together formed a foundation for modern AI and machine learning. When I was in Salt Lake City in the first week of June, Travis and I went into a studio to record this interview, continuing a conversation we had started when Travis and his team visited the Solari team in the Netherlands in early 2026. Our discussion focuses on how we can understand and manage the growing presence of AI in our lives. Travis has an impressive intellectual and entrepreneurial background. After earning Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in mathematics and electrical engineering at Brigham Young University, he completed a PhD in biomedical engineering at the Mayo Clinic. As an assistant professor at Brigham Young’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering from 2001 to 2007, he directed the Biomedical Imaging Lab, where his research centered on computational imaging techniques. He then went on to start several companies, each time identifying the need for a new standard, building the open-source infrastructure, and helping enterprises adopt it at scale. Brilliant, open-minded, deeply caring, and generous, Travis is someone who can help us understand what is happening and what we do about it. My hope is this will be the first of many conversations as we navigate the acceleration in technological innovation (and skullduggery) and seek to ensure that tools such as AI serve the health and prosperity of a human civilization.
