This is hands down the best visualization of time I’ve ever seen. 🤯⏳ It’s actually terrifying how small human history is compared to the reign of the dinosaurs. We really just got here.

It really humbles you fast, all that noise we make and we just showed up five minutes ago in the timeline.

It really puts existence into perspective. Dinosaurs ruled Earth for over 160 million years, while modern humans have been around for barely 300,000. All of recorded history is just a blink—an incredibly recent footnote in deep geological time.

My favorite visual is that if all of time was a football field, human life would be a single blade of grass (or something like that).

Jesus was born? That’s not at all scientific. What a strange point to mark.

I give it a 7/10. The earth is flat so it doesn’t account for that.

Time is relative—but not because of c alone. In an NMSI view, time depends on the fractal layer in which it is generated. Each scale carries its own temporal resolution and memory density. Human history feels tiny next to the dinosaurs because we’re comparing different informational fractals, not just durations. Time isn’t one universal river it’s a stack of nested clocks, each emerging from its own structure. Fir more details:

What’s impressive is how much we’ve done in the last 100 years!

We are late to the party, but in that tiny sliver we have gone from caves to space travel. Imagine what the next flicker holds if we play our cards right.

Thanks for sharing this video! The timeline of life on Earth is fascinating. It's wild to contemplate all the time when Earth was barren of all life and then the billions of years when the only life was carpets of bacteria. We discuss this in the 10th ep of our sleep podcast.

Humans have a hard time with the reality of geologic time. -Einsteinian physics: Hunter gathers have limited experience with light speed. -Astronomical distances: Voyager 1 is now 1 light day away from Earth. Launched in 1977. ("The Grand Tour") Nearest star: 4 light years. 😆

80 years of human lifetime is nothing to the History, we are less than a blink of an eye, compared to all the Earth's History and the Universe History

Dinosaurs are just like Space, a fabrication, a fantasy, an unproven theory peddled by Modern Day Snake Oil Salesman.

When you combine this with the fact that there are more stars in the universe than grains of sand on earth, the tiny size of each star (I.e. if the Milky Way was the size of the USA, the sun would fit in your fingerprint), and the enormous distances. The probability that aliens would evolve, find us, get to us, and do it in our existence is astronomically low.

It’s not a great visualisation at all. But it def proves how little we actually know about about prehistory.

It's just an exponential curve plotted as a 3 dimensional shape that's ratio'd at inflection points. I prefer the exponential graph because I think it illustrates the take off vector better.
