This is how brutal turbulence can be✈️ One moment, everything feels completely normal the next, the aircraft can be thrown around violently. Passengers are suddenly thrown upward and slammed back into their seats, while loose belongings can go flying through the cabin When that seat belt sign comes on,... show more

"When that seat belt sign comes on, DO NOT IGNORE IT. Buckle up immediately" Er, no. It should already be buckled up before the seatbelt sign comes on and at any time you're seated.

if you're seated, doesn't matter if the light is one or not, PUT ON YOUR SEATBELT. It's the sudden turbulence that no one expects can seriously hurt you.

No idea how people can be so calm when this sort of turbulence happens

Dude duct taped to his chair the other day would have been OK.

I hate turbulence so much

Das ist alles total harmlos und sieht nur so heftig aus, weil in erster Linie die Kamera wackelt und weil die Filmenden nicht in der Lage sind, die Kamera zu stabilisieren🤦♂️

And they want you to be sober sitting through this

I applaud the level of calmness and mental strength this passengers had. That kind of turbulence was really heavy!

Will it get worse as climate changes exacerbate?

Turbulence like that looks alarming from a seat. Airliners are certificated to take at least 2.5g positive and one negative before the structure takes a permanent set, and lighter types are held to as much as 3.8. How rough was the worst you have filmed?

Just like being on a speed boat on a rough sea but you can’t see the waves ahead

Best to leave belt on always really.

And yet on just about everyone of my flights, someone always asks for a drink or has to go to the lavatory as we are all strapped in getting whiplash 🤷♀️

Like in a car on a rough terrain

Obv there’s no alternative to it BUT I HATE FUCKING FLYING , worst scariest

😍

Thrown around violently 😂

What the camera can't show: the altimeter barely moved. Turbulence that feels like a drop is usually a few metres of altitude and a lot of acceleration. The wing is built for far worse than this. The pilots' hands are relaxed. That's the tell.

I start to do my breathing and stomach tightening exercises then to mitigate the feeling the bottom is dropping out.
