Turbulence like that looks alarming from a seat. Airliners are certificated to take at least 2.5g positive and one negative before the structure takes a permanent set, and lighter types are held to as much as 3.8. How rough was the worst you have filmed?

What the camera can't show: the altimeter barely moved. Turbulence that feels like a drop is usually a few metres of altitude and a lot of acceleration. The wing is built for far worse than this. The pilots' hands are relaxed. That's the tell.

Ever wondered how fast an aircraft is moving when the nose finally comes up? ✈️ On a typical commercial jet, rotation can happen around 130–160 knots (240–300 km/h). That’s the moment the pilots pull back at Vr, pitching the nose up and getting the aircraft into the right attitude for liftoff. But it isn't a fixed. Aircraft weight, runway conditions, temperature and takeoff configuration all affect the calculated rotation speed. So when you see that nose come up, the aircraft can already be doing around 280 km/h down the runway.

It’s a normal system sound that helps the aircraft prepare safely for departure. It can sound intense inside the cabin, but from a pilot’s perspective it’s completely routine. The aircraft was not airworthy, not in the normal sense. A ferry flight is not a normal flight. The aircraft has a known defect that prevents it from carrying passengers. The defect cannot be repaired where the aircraft is, so it must be flown to a maintenance facility. It does not fly on a normal Certificate of Airworthiness. It flies under a Special Flight Permit: a one-time authorization that defines where the aircraft can fly, the crew required, and the operating limitations for that specific flight. I have been part of the process of preparing one of those permits. The defect is assessed. The risks are evaluated. The operating conditions are defined. The crew is fully briefed on the defect and its limitations. The route is planned around those limitations, and suitable alternate airports are selected. Then the aircraft departs, and you watch it leave, knowing exactly what condition it is in. That feeling stays with you. The permit exists because, in some cases, the safest option is to fly the aircraft under controlled conditions to a facility with the right people, tools, parts, and approvals, rather than attempt a repair where those resources are unavailable.

The ocean off Cabo does not care how good of a swimmer you are and this video is proof - this guy jumped off the boat and that current grabbed him and made the swim back feel like it lasted a lifetime. You can see him fighting to get back and it is not until you watch it that you realize just how fast the water can take you somewhere you never planned to go. And let us not forget Cabo is known for shark activity in those waters - a rope, a float, anything thrown in the water at that moment could have been the difference between a story he tells and one nobody ever hears. The current alone was dangerous enough but being that far from the boat in open ocean water with everything swimming beneath the surface is a completely different level of risk that most people never think about until it is too late. Glad he made it back. Are you a good swimmer? That one could have gone a whole different direction.

You can have AI engineers writing beautiful code that could be wrong, that could have bugs in it, that could be vulnerable. Someone needs to review it. Make sure to have a human review at some point, especially critical code that is in the core of your system. On the product side is judgment around what needs to be built and evaluating. And similarly in design, you have to have judgment around, does it make sense in the broader design system. I think this judgment is the number one thing that humans are going to bring in an era of infinite productivity."
