DU students allege that professors were appointed a month after the commencement of the semester due to which the syllabus is pending and exam forms have been issued 10 days before the exams starting on December 26, which have several flaws. The students’ unions of all three law faculties, CLC, LC1 and LC2, urged the deans to extend the exam dates but the deans stuck to the pre-scheduled dates. Yesterday on December 16, a protest was started by the students which continued throughout the day and it was peaceful, but the Dean deployed Delhi Police and CRPF to remove the students from the faculty, due to which there was chaos between the law students and the police and the matter became serious. The DU administration issued a notification stating that "The Date Sheet relating to LL.B. I/III/V Term December/January, 2024 Examination scheduled from 26th December, 2024 is put-on hold." However, the students remained adamant on their demand to postpone the examination schedule. Later, the police broke the entry gates of the campus and started lathicharge in which some students were injured. It is a matter of concern that law students were treated like rioters. WASINMI, OGUN: After speaking with students of OwuTech, Naija Confra reports that the incident began with a large-scale robbery in the student area. During the robbery, a cultist was seriously injur€d. Students protested, but were ignored and later pushed back, escalating the situation. (More videos on Telgrm). The robbery took place around 3 a.m., with several hostels targeted, leaving many students injur€d. A Buccaneer member was critically injur€d and is currently receiving treatment. Students reported the robbery to the school authorities and the king’s palace, but they were ignored, and instead, the police were sent to disperse the protestors. Student sources told NC that cultists joined the protest, leading to gunfire exchanges with the police (shots fired in the air). Buccaneers are investigating whether the robbers were cultists and have also joined the protest. Some sources warn that if the issue isn’t addressed, it could lead to a clash between students and indigenes, as many students believe the indigenes were involved in the robbery. Govt claims, the land is no forest nor home to any animals and belongs to the Govt . And Minister for IT Sridhar Babu Duddilla assured in the assembly that no land of the HCU will be touched. Students are fighting against alleged land encroachment in this process. The protesting student say( Verbatim) - "The reality is that the state government is misleading students to think that there is a distinction between University land and government land. It is well aware that the entire University is situated in the land of the state government. It was, in fact, the Congress government under Indira Gandhi that originally allocated 2,300 acres of government land for the University. OAU transport system was near perfect, adequate buses and bikes, we rarely experienced queues until the First Lady came and decided she didn’t like the ease of transportation and introduced “change” by donating CNG buses. The school management in turn banned all motorcycles and commercial buses on campus and subjected over 30,000 students to just about 50 buses and a few tricycles. OAU has one of the largest land masses of any Nigerian university, yet students are now stranded daily. This is a Monday morning where students are supposed to rush for class, but they are stuck at the campus gate because of the inefficiency of the CNG buses. Students are struggling to go to class in the morning and in the evenings to even get back to their hostels. Students staying off campus now spend almost double to get to campus, all alternative transport means have been removed The management have cars to bypass all of this, but majority of students do not. Yet they released statements talking about how the buses will “ease transportation” and even implied students appreciate the system. Meanwhile, students are trekking, missing classes, and spending hours in queues. Let it be clear that students do not appreciate this system. It has made our lives harder, not better. What used to be a smooth system has now become a daily struggle. There are many pressing issues in this school, but they chose to dismantle a working transport system and replace it with hardship. We can no longer remain silent. Let the whole world know what OAU students are going through. Palo Alto High students given Qurans, encouraged to wear hijabs on mosque trip — parents sue Parents of Palo Alto High School students are suing the school district after a class field trip to a mosque last fall. The lawsuit claims female students were encouraged to wear hijabs, students were handed Qurans, and the visit framed Islam as aligned with social justice work. The trip was part of the school’s Social Justice Pathway program. Photos of the students were allegedly taken and posted online without parental consent. The plaintiffs include Jewish, Hindu, and Zoroastrian parents who say the activity crossed the line from education into religious promotion. Zahra Billoo, executive director of CAIR’s Bay Area office, spoke to the students during the visit. She later called the lawsuit “misguided,” saying: “Public schools and the government have an obligation to remain neutral toward religion, but what neutrality does not mean is shielding students entirely. The job of educators is to teach students, and expose them to different worldviews. That’s what happened here.” She added: “One of the most important ways we combat hate is to learn about each other. I am concerned that this group of parents not only wants to counteract that for their own children… but is attempting to intimidate schools and school districts from doing necessary work of educating the next generation.” Learning about others is great. Indoctrinating students into a religion as part of their education isn’t. There’s a clear difference. Keep schools about learning and let students decide what path to follow. Public schools should remain neutral. Teaching about different faiths is appropriate. Handing out religious texts, encouraging students to wear religious clothing, and presenting one religion as uniquely tied to social justice are not.

The plaintiffs include Jewish, Hindu, and Zoroastrian parents who say the activity crossed the line from education into religious promotion. Zahra Billoo, executive director of CAIR’s Bay Area office, spoke to the students during the visit. She later called the lawsuit “misguided,” saying: “Public schools and the government have an obligation to remain neutral toward religion, but what neutrality does not mean is shielding students entirely. The job of educators is to teach students, and expose them to different worldviews. That’s what happened here.” She added: “One of the most important ways we combat hate is to learn about each other. I am concerned that this group of parents not only wants to counteract that for their own children… but is attempting to intimidate schools and school districts from doing necessary work of educating the next generation.” Learning about others is great. Indoctrinating students into a religion as part of their education isn’t. There’s a clear difference. Keep schools about learning and let students decide what path to follow. Public schools should remain neutral. Teaching about different faiths is appropriate. Handing out religious texts, encouraging students to wear religious clothing, and presenting one religion as uniquely tied to social justice are not.
