Athena Crisis: Steam: Tech Talk:

They said it couldn't be done they said you were a mad man they were kind of right... but you did it anyways, and I'm so happy about it! the games looks AMAZING, looking forward to playing it

This isn't even the final art yet! Next week I'll start integrating the new design. I'm so excited.

my man this looks amazing

This is really cool. I can't wait to try it in my Steamdeck! I am curious about the technical details of how it is packaged for Steam. Is it an app with a webview, or perhaps RN, etc?

But looks like Steam Deck 🌝

Yep!

So cool, I've been following your journey for a while. This is super impressive!

This reminds me of Advance Wars 2, spent so many hours playing that as a kid. Even cooler that it's all powered by JavaScript, truly amazing!

@martin_buurman Check it out and please wishlist:

Added to my wishlist! Just finishing watching your talk, super interesting

@martin_buurman Thank you!

Looks like advanced war from gba. Love that one as a kid

@ntntpower It’s Athena Crisis: Wishlist here:

I was just about to attempt this with a Pokémon type game :) think I’ll go with unity and C# for now and attempt this again soon!

Don’t use Unity!

Yeah after the new update fells horrible to support a company with such practices, hopefully will try JavaScript scratch out! Hope you drop a course soon haha!

The perfect world is where JavaScript is everywhere (and is smooth to use)

Looking good! Fits nicely on a deck👍

i'm sorry but that's a steam deck

Yes, and it’s running a game written in JavaScript.

Wow! Beautiful!! 🤩

@rubiagatra I thought this is Advance War from Gameboy

@rubiagatra Check this out:

@sseraphini This looks so good!!

@sseraphini Please wishlist: and subscribe at 🙇♂️

@sseraphini You got it, this is thrilling!

hooooow?

@brunooomelo Nice! How did you made it an executable, to be played as a game (or to be downloaded on steam?)

@Web_Guild @brunooomelo Electron.

Unfortunately it won’t be coming to switch. It’ll ship on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, and Steam Deck.

@ahvsfporra Seriously looking forward to getting this on my 11" iPad. My new game addiction awaits...

@ahvsfporra What CPU does the 11” iPad have? 😬

@ahvsfporra Pretty sure that the iPad Pro is a supercomputer :-)

@ahvsfporra Oh lol 11”, somehow I thought of an iPad mini.

Man, I ever hoped someone to develop a pc/steam game like Advanced Wars! I don't have and don't like consoles. Thank you! Added to my whishlist.

Are you using a framework/engine? Good work!!

Nope, it’s all built from scratch! See

Looks cool! Into the Breach vibes.

Into the Breach and Athena Crisis are both inspired by the same game.

I wanna learn to do that!!!!

Wishlistet ✅

loos like advanced wars, so looking good!

Please wishlist here: and/or sign up here:

Nice

This looks reeaaaaallyyyy nice

@shalildev Check out these links:

Looks cool. Quick question: Why is it not full screen? Or maybe you need to zoom in?

It is full screen though?

It looks like a great game, however nothing amazing using a 2022 computer for what would be a SEGA Game Gear game in 1990. Enough juice to run JavaScript, even everything interpreted without JIT.

Cool story bro

@shipin_xiazai

@lucasvelozdev

The web is the future 🔥

For an fps it's definitely better to use WebGL/webgpu. While Athena Crisis is not realtime, there is still a ton happening – just look at all the animations: rivers, oceans, idle, dialogs etc.

I was wondering how many of those animations can be offset by using gifs? [wondering if replacing some would improve performance] definitely a cool project :) Makes me wanna build something in vanilla js haha

Probably not going to make much of a difference.

Which game is this? 🤔

Athena Crisis: Steam: Tech Talk:

I’m certainly will watch the summit, i’m looking for this type of content to choose an engine / language to make a mobile game

Mostly CSS isn’t it? (Reminds me your talk at React Summit)

HOPE
