Even if they saved space, hanging that much weight on one line of wall is asking for trouble if it’s blockwork and not properly cast RC. One crack and those units become a demolition crew.

Outdoor units dump hot air. When you stack them in a tight column like that, the heat from the lower units rises straight into the ones above. Those upper units then have to work harder to reject heat, so efficiency drops, power use goes up, and the compressors wear out faster. It also makes servicing a nightmare and can mess with drainage and vibration. Spreading them out or using a proper multi-split / VRF setup would actually save more energy than cramming them into one vertical strip.

They are modular, easily available to install in whatever configuration you want, and any average installer can install them without breaking your bank account. They can do both heat and cool. And if you have solar+storage they are basically free.
