This is really something. A memorable moment with Gene Hackman from Inside the Actor’s Studio.

The pain of being abandoned by a parent never wanes, no matter how old we are.

Why did Two and a Half Men star Angus T. Jones call the show “filth” before leaving it in 2012? Since then, he’s left Hollywood, choosing to focus on his faith and community work. Here's the full story 👇

65 years although I have no doubt it felt like yesterday to him. We were all children once. I just became a father this year at 40 years old. I am determined to be present, supportive, strong, and resilient for my daughter and wife.

Sometimes it’s hard to realize that the screen icons are humans with a past and feelings.

Gene was awesome actor, def one of my favs from the 80s-2000s scene. Loved him Get Shorty. This reaction was so real of him.

Sad. And proof that it is not time that heals wounds.

He still feels the pain after 65 years 😔 I’ve had several dear friends whose dads just abandoned them at a young age. It makes me extra grateful for my dad.

Thank you for this clip!! I totally identify—my dad left when I was 5 and I saw him only once a year. The relationship, such as it was, remained friendly. Inwardly, I learned to forgive him repeatedly as bitter bubbles of resentment surfaced. Outwardly, I invested in him with affirmations—things he never gave me. But I was with him at the end; on his deathbed, he told me I was “the best thing that ever happened to him.” Had I not willfully, painfully, doggedly forgiven him over the years, I would have missed that moment, and we both would have lost something precious. Instead, we both won.

I’m sorry for the pain. But good for you for getting something meaningful out of it. And I’m glad for how it ended.

Wow. Thank you @BenMank77

@EllenBarkin Thank you for posting 🙏 I miss everything about this video. Mr. Hackman, Mr. Lipton, and Inside the Actors Studio. I wish there was a place to watch these episodes
