75/25 for us. If it's something we really like we fight over the leftovers. But otherwise (like when my husband makes 5 gallons of pea soup) we do end up throwing it out.

Doesn't anybody else cook a deliberatedly big amount to have for every other day of the week?

That’s why you have chickens and pigs. Nothing goes to waste.

I tell my hubs we can trow it away now or in a couple of weeks. He always swears he'll eat it

We are so fortunate to have so much food available. My grandparents were not so lucky. They taught us about the hardships they went through and my family learned to appreciate and be grateful for what we have. We show that gratitude by not wasting.

In SE Asia, you put it in a new container, to sort of scare it. Then, ~5h later, you start a fire in plain sight of it. Now it's terrified. You bring oil to almost boil, and throw it in for failing to be eaten earlier. This repeats for years. Teaches food to be good.

Get some chickens. I live in the suburbs and have a dozen of them. They eat leftovers and we get eggs

Get a dog. Nothing is ever wasted and can easily dispose of spoiled food you forgot to give to the dog earlier.

Not anymore for us. I got the post it brand tape and I tear off a piece and put the date on the items. That saves so much food! Restaurants date their food, why not us at home?

You forgot a step. it should be "We store it in the refrigerator. And we make sure to put it way in the back behind everything."

Nearly always use up the leftovers. Being from the 80's, having bubble n squeak style fry ups. Also can throw anything almost in a soup. No real reason to throw away stuff.

Not in my house! We barely have any left overs as it is, but when we do they go into the fridge for the night unless the girls, two dogs, haven’t eaten yet at which time it gets mixed in with their daily dry food. I also happen to love certain leftovers for a simple lunch.

Bro, what?! That's my lunch/dinner the next day! If you like what your wife makes for dinner and you like leftovers, it's like a reward in the fridge. 😄
