This is Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds, which came out in 2002, with a Clone Campaigns expansion in 2003. Ensemble made this, and it's basically just Age of Empires 2 with a Star Wars skin. I wish they still made great RTS games like they did in the 90s and 00s.

There is a mod called Expanding Fronts for this game at; If you install the mod, plus use narzouls ddrawcmpat; You essentially get a modified, improved experience that will work on multi-monitor systems without any issues.

I'm happy people are incorporating the newer Star Wars factions into the older games. New Gen fans are really, really missing out on expanded universe content for the First Order and Resistance era.

RTS is a dying genre. Zoomers don't understand or care for them, which is one of the major reasons why they stopped making them. They don't turn a good profit, and they are very complex to balance and develop.

I absolutely loved this game. Played the campaign a lot and enjoyed the story enough. Sometimes custom multiplayer against siblings. It'd be interesting to see a modern remake.

Star Wars makes for an excellent skin suit for games. They regularly become better than the original. AoE2 => Galactic Battlegrounds Q3 based shooters => Jedi Outcast Battlefield => Battlefront Neverwinter Nights => KOTOR XCOM => Zero Company

The attention span required for any true RTS doesn’t exist today. I sprent probably thousands of hours between WC 1-3 (def 3) and SC 1/2 that I don’t refret but the time commitment per game goes well beyond what that average game today lasts.

This game still gets updates on steam.

Age of empires is getting new dlc on every single title this year. New dawn of war is coming too. It’s not as popular but it’s not totally dead. Watch blizz announce new StarCraft at blizzcon.. ha. It’s about time for that. My favorite newer RTS is planetary annihilation titans.

There isn't enough words on twitter to explain how this is my ultimate video game lf all time. Starters, always been a massive Star Wars fan, but to now be able to create and control armies of my favourite Fandom and create endless scenarios to play out any fantasy, its my heart

I love how even though they never made an expansion based on Revenge of the Sith, they still included Wookiees as their own distinct civilization right from the beginning.

Yeah it was pretty good. The civs were not as balanced as the original game and the jedi/bounty hunters were a bit odd but it was really fun.
