This is kidnapping. This owner is about to get sued for false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress. I’m sure there are more torts she’s committed. But if she’s not careful that kidnapping charge could be criminal

So with a little research I found that the boss lady lost her franchise and was arrested for unlawful restraint (can't find any outcome) and as of October of this year there is a civil lawsuit against her that still remains open.

It’s a civil matter. You cannot kidnap someone before you think they need to return a name tag. She is being charged and will 100% be convicted of a felony. Not to mention sued.

This is so stupid all the manager had to do is disable a key fob. This was just a power struggle plus the compliance department is gonna light that manager up because of the liability she just exposed the company too.

If she refuses to hand over the key and name tag after termination she is holding stolen property. Every employer required you to give back company property when you leave.

Here are The Facts 🤙🏽 Thanks for the tag @Bebetterguyy Follow to tag when a post is needing context 🤙🏽 Champaign Boss Accused of Illegally Detaining Employee — Champaign, IL — Dec 6, 2024 Home Instead caregiver Crystal Roedl says her boss, franchise owner Jennifer Hanna, illegally restrained her in an office for about eight minutes after telling her she was fired. Viral video posted by Roedl appears to show Hanna blocking the door and refusing to let her leave until she turned over company property, including a key fob Roedl says was at home. Roedl told reporters she felt “trapped” and described Hanna’s behavior as aggressive and mentally abusive. Champaign Police responded, took Roedl to the hospital, and later issued Hanna a notice to appear in court on an unlawful restraint charge — the equivalent of an arrest in non-violent felony cases. Home Instead’s corporate office said it is investigating and does not condone behavior inconsistent with its values. The local franchise has since been sold to new owners.

Stop filming call a man. Yelk Fire Fire 🔥

This lady will face charges.

@mikepogge67 You idiots wonder why you’re unemployable

@TrumpGirlLove @mikepogge67 The owner was charged with unlawful restraint; court date pending. Home Instead is investigating the franchise. In the meantime another owner has taken over the business. FAFO.

@TrumpGirlLove @mikepogge67 Sure

@TrumpGirlLove @mikepogge67 Fob was at her home & she offered to mail it back (no intent to steal). Owner couldve deactivated fob remotely. Police ordered her to release employee & when they arrived, cited owner for unlawful restraint (felony). Owner lost her business and got sued. @grok confirm accuracy

Based on news reports from WCIA and NewsNation, plus Illinois statutes: - Key fob was at employee's home; she offered to mail it (no theft intent shown). - Key fobs can often be deactivated remotely, though not specified for this system. - Police responded, cited owner for unlawful restraint (Class 4 felony in IL). - Business transferred to new owners; employee stated intent to sue, but no confirmed lawsuit yet.

She is going to get a nice check for that.

Give her the key. If you are fired you don’t need it.

She called the police, and the bitch was arrested for illegal detainment… deserved 100%.

If you have so much anxiety, why don't you just give back the key that doesn't belong to you?

No it is not. The ex-employee who is filming for attention (if she really had an issue she would be calling 911 instead of just filming) is trying to steal company property. You can hold thieves. Stores do it all the time.

Idk what she did, but I would have punched her until the hospital bill was unaffordable. You can’t hold me against my will. And yes I’m black, some of y’all need to learn when to talk/negotiate and learn when to start swinging.

The fact that this woman on the phone didn't realize that she was legally in the wrong is mind boggling. 🤯

And a crime in most places

The chick has a phone in her hand and a phone on the desk why doesn’t SHE call 911 and say she is locked in a room against her will.. they will come quick

damn right it's illegal to hold someone against their will. It's called kidnapping. That lady is making a huge mistake!

According to the Black lawyer who makes YouTube videos, he just covered this in and an employer or a business can safely keep someone from leaving because they have stolen property in their pocket. It is legal. For instance, by locking the door and waiting for police to arrive.

@CNforUSA Instead of using her phone to film, she needs to use her phone to call the police.

Actually, detaining a thief in the United States is not illegal. Drop the fob and you can walk out lady. If you take it with you, that's theft. If you refuse to return company property on demand, that's theft. This employer isn't nice but isn't wrong here.

First she needs to return the property period!! She's a terminated employee I'm sure she signed a contract stating she needs to return upon request immediately!!

Don't matter how you feel you need to absolutely return the property and no one cares you are prego!! Grow up and give them the property they asking for!! You not because you planning on doing something illegal!!

That chick needs to be fired. You take that key fob out of the system. I’ve never needed any key fob or access card back from anyone, I just deleted them right out of the damn system.

You absolutely cannot detain an employee. It’s ridiculous but when I’m also wondering is since the girl is filming it on her cell phone why didn’t she call the police?

Nobody cares. Getting pregnant isn't fucking special!! Women need to calm tf down. And why does she need the key if she is leaving forever? She is definitely lying about mailing it. Which is also stupid. She wants to pay to return something she doesn't one? Dumb.

When people start crying about their "anxiety", they immediately loose all credibility in my eyes.

False imprisonment and she should go to jail. This could've easily been solved by disabling that key fob or changing the lock. It would cost her a lot less.

A throat punch would have fixed this problem quickly.

Yeah She should have just let her go and changed the key. Cost of firing suck people. But she should not of held her hostage!

She tells 911 stay on the phone she’s “afraid” of her but also won’t let her leave. Last time I checked I don’t stand in front of door of someone I’m afraid of 🙄

They can program a key fob… this is a nice little lawsuit for the preggo

You can hold her paycheck not her person

The woman blocking the door is a douche bag. I feel bad for the pregnant woman. What I don’t understand is why she’s not just giving the key fob back so she can leave, why does she need to mail it??

She won’t have access to the company you dumb shit. Every company that has a digital access control system. They just take the employee out of the system. How do you think they deal with lost key, fobs, and card keys?
