I wonder if anything happened to the other boxer? That’s an illegal blow for a reason.

Explanation: Prichard Colon is a Puerto Rican professional boxer who suffered a life-changing brain injury during a boxing match in 2015. On October 17, 2015, Colon was competing against Terrel Williams in a nationally televised Premier Boxing Champions event. In the ninth round, Williams hit Colon with an illegal punch to the back of the head. Colon immediately fell to the canvas and was unable to get up. Colon was rushed to the hospital where doctors discovered he had suffered a severe brain bleed caused by the illegal punch. The bleeding caused oxygen deprivation to parts of Colon's brain resulting in permanent damage. Colon underwent emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. After the surgery, Colon was in a coma for 221 days. He was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. The injury impacted his motor skills, speech and cognition. At 26 years old, Colon was left paralyzed, unable to walk or care for himself. The injury ended Colon's promising boxing career. It also sparked discussions about better protecting fighters from illegal punches and improving post-fight medical procedures. Colon's case highlighted the dangers boxers face and the need for stricter in-ring safety measures and enforcement. Clinical Sequelae: - Colon was left with significant motor disabilities, relying on a wheelchair - He lost ability to speak and communicate - Cognitive abilities remained very impaired with deficits in memory, language, attention - Required round-the-clock supportive care for all activities of daily living The severe TBI resulted in permanent disabilities for Colon at just 26 years old. The case underscores the dangers of trauma in boxing and the need for better medical safeguards.

After the end of the fight, Prichard Colon was assisted to the dressing room by his mother, after which he vomited and collapsed. Colon was then taken to hospital via ambulance and was diagnosed with a left-sided subdural hematoma measuring 1.5cm in diameter with 1.2cm of midline shift. An emergency hemicraniectomy was performed to reduce brain swelling and evacuate the haematoma. As a result, Colón went into a coma for 221 days. Prichard Colon is photographed here smiling on the day of his birthday. This is a frame taken by a video his mother posted on tiktok.

Omg I don’t like boxing for anything. See what it did to this guy

Life can be tough. Sending strength to those in hard times.

Watch this highlight reel. This really makes me angry. That doctor should be fired from the sport also.

It’s crazy how one punch could change your life
